| That's from a low carb site, so, unless you're low carbing, you won't need that much protein (you only need it when you're low carbing to fuel your body in the abscence of glycogen). | |

- Hi all
Copied and pasted from a previous post of mine. Hope this helps.
I have noticed that quite a few people on here were asking about protein requirements and recently there was some discussion about the amino acid Leucine. So I did a bit of research and found the attached site which I found quite interesting. It provided some info on protein rich foods and approx grams of protein per weight of source etc. and it also provided a formula for how much protein we should be consuming on average. ie approx .8grams of protein per kg body weight. There was also some discussion on the impact of consuming additional protein etc and requirements for people who excercise. Anyway thought this may be of interest to people.

| Im drinking a protein drink called MUSASHI P30. It has 30g of protein per 500ml bottle. Its similar to a gatorade, tastes very sweet, but has NO sugar. Expensive, but I cant drink milky type drinks so its all im left with really. | |

| You should aim for 100grams of protien a day. This will not be acheivable in the first few months for just about everybody. Try and make protien your priority. ways to boost your protien are........
2 eggs half a slice toast for breakfast
forme satisfy yoghurt for morning tea
lunch 100grams of a protien source ie chicken fish beef etc and a side salad eat the protien source FIRST
forme satisfy yoghurt or tin of tuna or cheese for afternoon tea
dinner100grams of a protien source ie chicken fish beef etc and a side serve colourful veg eat the protien source FIRST
supper forme satisfy yoghurt or tin of tuna
avoid carbs on your plate ie potato pasta bread etc to start with until you have more room to fit in all the protien you need. Use colourful vegtables for the vegtable or salad choice but make them the side serve again until you eat more .
If you dont do breakfast sorta person you can do a protien shake instead, or find some protien powders that work mixed in with your food.
Just remember this is a way to live BUT everybody has a life so enjoy what you want when you go out to dinner with friends and the odd banna muffin for morning tea is not going to make all your hair fall out. We all have lives to live and enjoy :)
