First topic message reminder :

Hi, my name is Carissa & I'm a fully fledged bogan - hehe.

Yes I'm out & proud - I drive the hotted up stereotypical commodore, I live for speedway anddd.... I'm covered in tattoos.

My question is... Has anybody got any, and has weight loss affected the way they look?

PostSubject: Re: Tattoos   Tattoos - Page 3 EmptyThu 26 Apr 2012, 9:30 am

None of mine have changed with losing near on 60 kilos.

I have both the insides of my forearms done, tattoos on both sides of my back, and on top of both my feet.

My arms are sooo much smaller than they used to be, but it hasn't changed the shape of the tattoos, they just take up more of my arm now!

Have started organising my next lot to get done... Getting some of my left arm brightened up, and also getting a chain of butterflies and sparkles that will join up with the tattoo that's already there, across the top of my hand.

Haha Cherryipe :-). I was a little worried about that hen I chose my tatt! It is a heart with a rosebud growing through it and originally had barbed wire for the stem...... I discussed it with tattoo guy and told him I thought it might look weird when I was 90!!
He redesigned it with a stem with leaves instead & I still love it as much today as I did when I got it about 10 yrs ago.....
I too am still planning number 2, I once saw a celtic heart deign that I loved but have never seen the exact one again.I would also consider something that incorporated my childrens names or initials but nothing corny if you know what I mean.

RavenSteele - that sounds sensible, good forward planning!

MissHel - want to share what your next one will be?

I'm thinking at this stage maybe a phoenix in the small of my back once all the weight is gone (and the skin's gone too!) :)

PostSubject: Re: Tattoos   Tattoos - Page 3 EmptyThu 26 Apr 2012, 3:10 am

I have a major upper sleeve piece and two large inside wrist tattoos, amongst a few other not so major, but they are on bones like, my foot, ankle, behind my ear places weight loss doesn't matter, i have been scouring the internet to see the difference in peoples tattoos after weight loss. I found a lady similar to me, and she said the changes weren't noticeable. I'm lucky enough that with my upper sleeve it doesn't go all the way around. When i first got it, i envisioned maybe one day, in a fantasy world i would lose all the extra weight i was carrying, i spoke to my tattoo artist, and asked if you also had seen any other people and their tats after major weight loss. We have left enough so that if i cannot tone up my arms, and need to have skin removed, there is enough space to have skin removed and stretched, The only difference will be when i do lose all the weight, my tattoo will go all the way around instead of sitting on top and half around. Here's to hoping this theory plays out well :D

PostSubject: Re: Tattoos   Tattoos - Page 3 EmptyThu 26 Apr 2012, 3:05 am

I say go for it too Jess!

Strawb - my words say Sum Meum Corpus. Its latin for 'I am my body.'

I'm a philosophy grad - or I was a long time ago. And to me this means my body is me - not my brain or my spirit - but my body. My body is the thing that everyone associates with me. Its what keeps everything going. I couldn't think or feel without it. So it IS me.

Does that make sense? And I know - it seems ironic that I think deeply about this and yet have been fighting with my body and not very happy with it for 20 years too!

This ink is pretty old now - so the colours are still looking ok. Its about 9 years old.

And I just made plans for my next one - when my arm is a bit thinner. Heheheheh.

Jessie - you go for it hon! Why on earth not if it's something you'd like? The good thing about belly rings is that you never have to flash them unless you want to :)

MissHel - can I ask what the writing on your arm means? I love the colours of your ink.

I love the idea of a symbol to celebrate our journey and would love to get a belly ring! Don't know if I have the courage at 48 to get one though!

I haven't seen many yet that I love, although I think you're right in that what I get depends where it goes and how big I want it. I was thinking about asking a talented friend to design it for me. I like knowing it's a guaranteed original!

There is so many fantastic phoenix designs around. I had trouble finding one small enough for my wrist as phoenix tattoos are usually very detailed so they are quite big. I had mine touched up a little today and I just love it so much, he did the best job. I have had so many people comment on it. I told James (the tattooist) today that I wanted commission. lol

Kate - I decided a few months ago that when I'm at a weight I'm happy with (and have probably had skin surgery) I will be getting a phoenix tattoo to represent the journey. Yours is very pretty. I haven't decided where to get mine yet - depends what my body's like at that time!

Jacko.. no offence dude but that probably wasn't the smartest idea getting a tattoo on your shoulder / bicep area when you still have so much weight you want to lose.

Don't get me wrong it looks great, I'm just more worried about you getting skin removal surgery later on down the track and it ending up looking stretched and out of whack.

I love tatts and Have 5 with the plan for more. I started at 16 and was already big so I have always been concious to not get one somewhere that a big weight loss or gain would spoil them. When I have lost the weight I want my back done!

I have one on the top of my left foot which is in memory of my Dad. I have a rose inside a really nice heart with his initials above it and his heart transplant number running downwards beside it. Got that one just over 2 years ago. BTW I've only just noticed (I'm quick like that, lol) you have put a pic up as your avatar. Nice to put a face to the name.

That's an awesome piece of art J.

I have still not had any change to my tattoos after 35 kilos of weight loss... And very much looking forward to getting my left arm done in a couple weeks.

I am getting a tattoo covered up, which is going to be difficult.. But hopefully they can work their magic & I don't have to go down the laser removal path.

I've got a half sleeve.. actually had a big part of it done about a week before my surgery lol.

I'll be getting the other half done once I have some skin removal on my arms, planning a nice koi piece up my bicep and something continuing onto my chest slightly.

I wasn't really worried about them going "bad" as such with my weight loss as I've always had pretty solid forearms anyways.. and they've barely even changed.

I only have one runs across the top of my back.

It is mine and my wifes wedding rings entwined with a banner running through the middle with I am the luckiest written on it.

That was our first dance song.

Would like to get 2 Owls on my right arm for my Mum and Dad they both love Owls and they make cool Tatt's
