PostSubject: Re: Periods & sex   Periods & sex EmptyMon 06 Feb 2012, 1:29 pm

Well... Losing weight and being healthy is sensational...

But.. I have to admit I have started seeing someone.. And oh my freaking word... I don't know a better word than sensational to describe it lol.
I honest to god didn't know I could twist myself and my legs into those places (cough cough.. Did not just say that lol)

The next best thing about weight loss... Is that living in a minesite camp & sleeping in a king single bed... I can manage to do it comfortably with 2 people in the bed hehe.

I wouldn't even want to imagine how difficult that would be pre-sleeve!!!

PostSubject: Re: Periods & sex   Periods & sex EmptyThu 12 Jan 2012, 2:18 am

Just dragging this thread up from the past...

This is to do with periods, not sex! (unfortunately)

I got my period on Monday... It's now Thursday. It's been a breeze.

Hardly any bleeding, no cramps, this is great lol.

Loving the effect the sleeve has had on my cycle! To think that 6 - 12 months ago, I was full on bleeding (I'm talking losing that much blood I was nearly passing out) for 3 weeks at a time, with one week off.. To now having an easy peasy period.

LOVE IT!

I'm kind of dreading getting my period now... For the last 6 months or so, my period has been terrible. Going for 3 plus weeks at a time, super heavy (this does not sufficiently describe the flow.. but it's the nicest way I can say it!), but not many cramps. Never been a cramper.

If (from what I've read on other posts too) it's true about periods getting heavier.. Oh wow I am SO in for a treat by the sounds..! I may as well get in all the sex I possibly can now cos it sounds like I'm going to be on an oil change for the next 5 years haha.

I am usually the same as you with quite heavy and painful periods, but the day after I got out of hospital I had light bleeding for one day then nothing for a week and then a couple days of light bleeding again. So you might not be in for a killer time, fingers crossed.

Briohne

I think that as you haven't had your surgery yet I wouldn't be taking any chances. ALthough he may not be producing sperm at this stage it could start at any time. Imagine being all worked up for surgery to find out you are pregnant. Of course I'm sure you would be delighted, but would then have to be willing to wait for your surgery. If you don't mind the wait, then go for it but otherwise I would def be using condoms in the meantime.

I think I would be using condoms until your weight is off. I know that on the pill, the body is 'tricked' into thinking it is pregnant, and in my case, I piled on weight. It doesn't affect everyone this way, and you can certainly try the pill to see how it affects you, but when you are pregnant, (or on the pill) the body tries hard to store fat for the growing baby. It might make it harder to lose weight!

Tell hubby if he loves you, he won't mind 'wearing a hat' for a few months to give you the best possible start. Or, you could play Russian roulette! A lot of women fall pregnant after getting the sleeve, because they are at their peak of health, finally, after many years. There is a thread for pregnancy and the sleeve as a 'sticky' on the forum.

Well- just after an opinion or two, my husband had a vasectomy reversal 2.5 years ago - vas is open, but he isn't producing any sperm according to the last few semen analysis - but specialist says one day he might just start again (we are planning on doing ivf once my weights off thanks to the sleeve) do you think I should bother with contraception? I haven't used contraception in 15 years!!! Don't really know what's best or if I even should bother

PostSubject: Re: Periods & sex   Periods & sex EmptyFri 18 Nov 2011, 8:25 pm

Hi

Littlemisscee drs appointment went fine. She was funny, said she could advise me which ever way i wanted ie if i didn't want it tell him he wasnt allowed for up to a year OMG, but if i did, all good, take it gently and NO swinging from from the chandeliers lol

Havn't had a period yet, apparently the stress of surgery either causes you to skip a period or brings another on, a blip on the radar as dr put it. Hopefully i'll be a misser.

I know what you mean about poorly timed periods, partner and i live separately and have alternate weekends together child free. A period can put a dampener on things. Tho i found out from family planning about a tablet called 'Primolut N' if you take it for a few days prior to an expected period it will delay onset until a couple of days after you stop taking it. Handy for holidays, weekends away etc. I use it sometimes as i am not on the pill and can't 'time' things that way.

I'll keep you posted re: the drought :)))))))))))))))

PostSubject: Re: Periods & sex   Periods & sex EmptyFri 18 Nov 2011, 12:16 pm

How did you go with your appt hazelbaby? Did you get that dr's note? Hehehe.

My period has been SO much better since having the sleeve. A little bit all over the joint, but not nearly as long, or as heavy.

Only thing I don't like, is that it doesn't come on time. For the first time in my life, I am not like clock work.

My period was due next Wednesday, coincidentally the day I fly back to work.

My period arrived on Wednesday just gone. Normally I wouldn't care. I do though, when I only see my partner once every 2 weeks on my week off.. I fly home on Tuesday nights, he flies in on Wednesday afternoons. NOT HAPPY when my period arrived on Wednesday morning I can assure you!!!

Hi all,

Still can't convince 'the partner' that he won't break me. Going to my 1st post op appointment today maybe I could get a drs note giving him permission lol.

We both have our kid free weekend this weekend so perhaps we may 'break the drought.' I may have to take matters into my own hands, as it were!!!! I'll keep you posted 17 days is a looooooong time :(

Can't believe I've only just found this thread! I was 3 or 4 days post op when I first had sex (gently) and a couple of days later I got my period (2 weeks early).

I'm nearly 25kg down and am also starting to find some new exciting ways to do the deed......I can't wait to see what other tricks I can do when I'm another 20kg down ;)

Someone sent me a quote by Betty White (from the Golden Girls')

"Balls! People are always saying to guys, 'Get some balls'! Why I wonder? Have you ever seen a man fold when he is kicked in the balls? I would tell them, 'Get a Vagina! Those things really take some pounding!"

Hi ladies,

OMG, soooooooooooooo loving this thread. Got my questions answered then some.............

My gorgeous, sweetheart partner is concerned about hurting me if we attempt to reconnect in that respect. I am 15 days post op and 15 days is a looooooong time. I will encourage him in this regard now that i have the inside info from those lovely ladies who have been there and done that, as it were..................

First time in my whole life I've been made to feel like a fragile little flower, hilarious, I am the robust one usually.

Not looking forward to next period, looks like lots on here have had much worse periods since surgery

Always remember, its never too late. And yes the guys can get a bit funny with the whole condom thing, but if it helps, in this day and age, getting the whole STi check is not difficult and can always ask for one of these and "get the clearance" before entering into a new sexual relationship.

If you use condoms for conception, you could always suggest to them, well line up for the snip, see how many then decide hhhhmmmmm maybe condoms are not such a bad idea after all. (sometimes guys are funny about anyone playing with their bits if it not for pleasure, lol)

I am learning SOOOOOO much!

My ex always hated using condoms. He said he lost 'sensation'. Some men get funny about them, don't they? Probably its the main reason I have FOUR kids and not two! And Lea! Woah! Lucky you!

Maybe I just haven't EVER had good sex? You girls really make me jealous!

As a single 48 year old overweight woman, and being safre, I am soo enjoying the "loving" that i am getting in my life over the past year. Im really believing as we girls and yes boys age we only get better. After listening to how better it is going to be as a smaller woman, BRING IT ON, as for the wet patch, just take a towel to bed, helps for a great sleep post. lol

I hope this is not getting too far out there.
