- Hi Lee,
I am also being sleeved by Dr. Draper on the 20 June. So far I have been really impressed by the way that he does things - he and his team are very thorough. It has taken me about 2months to get to my operation date - I initally thought that I wanted to do the band -but then changed my mind - so that caused a bit of a delay. I would love to hear more about how your journey progresses - good luck! Caz Oh not long now Caz! How exciting! Are you doing optifast at the moment? I saw it at the chemist today and was so tempted just to buy it just to taste it, hehehehe.... Looking forward to hear how you go with everything. I have my first appointment with him on Wednesday and I can't wait. I am so scared that I will fail though. I really need to change what goes on in my head

| Oh hi Bec - I didn't see your original message when I was replying.
Thanks for the thorough answer :-) Sounds like he's a good choice then. I am the same as you - want my surgery asap, but I guess I will probably have to wait too and you're right, better to be thorough and prepared than rushed... I am probably going to be the maid of honour at my bestie's wedding in South Africa in Feb, so I wanted to lose as much weight as possible by then, but I'll try do some on my own first too. Oh you're not far from where I live - I am in Heatherton, which is just next to Cheltenham. Can't wait to get to know all you girls better.
Good luck for your op next week! You must be so excited!!! Wishing you all the best on a wonderful journey

|
How long did it take from your initial appointment to the time you will have your sleeve done? What is he like?
My first appointment was 30/3 and my op is on the 17/6. So that's less than three months. In that time I have seen the dietician twice, the psychologist 5 times, had a sleep study done and seen a sleep specialist. I had routine blood tests and an ECG done. They keep you busy! At first when I went, I wanted to get it straight away and was dissapointed with the wait. In hindsight I see it has been important to wait and make sure I am properly prepared. The more prepared you are, I believe the result is better. I believe Mr Draper is very thorough, at least that is what everyone says. He takes precautions to ensure you are as healthy as possible and in the best place. Good Luck with your appointment. He is very easy to talk to, and his whole team are friendly and helpful.

Welcome to the site =)
Nic Hey Nic, Yep, he's the guy I am going to see. I have no idea when I'll be getting sleeved though. The sooner the better :-) How long did it take from your initial appointment to the time you will have your sleeve done? What is he like? And Hi Gail :-) Thanks for the hugs and warm welcome too :-) I am already beginning to like this place. Everyone seems so lovely!

| Hi Lee, Welcome and congratulations on the decision. Check with the doctor re the closeness in the surgery but logically shouldn't make any difference at all. They do this surgery lap and not open so shouldn't even be in the same area. Hugs Gail | |

| Hi Lee Welcome to the site. There are quite a few of us in Melbourne - take a look at the sleevers meet-ups thread, and you'll see that there's a semi-regular meet-up at Doncaster and a Christmas in July coming up in, well, July! They're for everyone, so don't feel shy... Sorry, but I have no idea about the closeness of the 2 surgeries, but it's not long till you see the doc, so you can ask then. Make sure you take a list of questions with you... Congrats on your new bub, too - hope you're getting some sleep! | |

| Hi There,
My name is Lee and I live in South Eastern Bayside in Melbourne... I weigh 126kg and I am 175cm. I just made an appointment today to go and see.. um... Bugger, I've forgotten his name...lol. The Surgeon at Peninsula Private :-) I am seeing him next week.
I have tried every diet under the sun - I just had a baby 4 months ago and prior to getting pregnant I was doing something called the Gabriel Method and while I love his principles, I just can't do it alone. So I am hoping to do that in conjunction with the sleeve and be happy with myself again and be able to play with my kids, jump on the trampoline, go on holidays etc etc... bring it on!
I just have one question though - I had a c-section with this bub. Do you think because it was so recent (Jan 24th) I might not be eligible for surgery? God I hope not... I am so depserate to have it.
Looking forward to getting to know you all
