Let me tell you, not that I'm completely off the roller coaster yet, but it is coming to an end.

I'm no doctor, in fact I have no medical experience what so ever but in just my opinion,
The Sleeve is the best permanent option for anyone who wishes to lose serious weight but best of all you can keep it off forever. Hence getting off the rollercoaster.

Good Luck
You won't regret it.

Hi Sandy Lou

I think they also look at your history as well as your BMI.

I was one of those yo-yo dieters A lurker coming out of the closet 595690

Wishing you well with your appointment and your journey.

Hi Sandy Lou,
I too was concerned that my BMI wouldn't be high enough... and it wasn't for one specialist, but fine for another..
I had planned on seeing at least two anyway.
Basically, I said to the second one, in preparation for him to say no.. .that I could work on getting it higher A lurker coming out of the closet 50622

He asked me about my history and the reasons why I wanted the surgery...
Clearly they were good enough..

Good luck,
Jules

Hello Sandy_lou and wlecome.

I hate living the yoyo life as well. I'm hoping it's all behind me now.

Good luck with your appointment with the surgeon. Hopefully he isn't strick on the BMI.

Thanks for the welcome! :) and thanks for the reassurance. I don't really want to eat my way up to get that extra point of BMI but then the appointment isn't until the end of March and knowing me I could be 10kg heavier by then. Oh the dreaded yo-yo.

Hi Sandy-Lou,

my BMI's 38 ish, and I've seen at least one surgeon who thinks I'm a candidate for surgery. Just waiting on an appointment with a second surgeon...

Welcome and thanks for coming out of the closet!

Best,

Dark

Hi everyone. This is such a great forum, I've been reading it for a while and finally decided to join and introduce myself. I'm Sandra from Newcastle (AU) and have an appointment to see Dr Karihaloo on the 30th March. It does say on his website that you have to have a BMI of 40 for the sleeve but mine is 39...do you think I won't be allowed to get the procedure? I've had a BMI of 42 before. Like everyone else I've struggled with my weight for years, 20 to be exact. I work my butt off to lose 20kg (I have 40kg to lose) just to put it back on again. Two years ago I was wearing a size 14 and felt fantastic although still not in the normal weight range. It took me about 4 months to put that 20kg back on. I hope the sleeve will be the solution for me as I would like to get off this rollercoaster.

Nice to meet you all.
