| Hi Donna and welcome, I think you should ring your sugeon's office and ask for one of his supporting doctors to go and see. The fact that you heard a 'rip' when you bent to lift something heavy is significant. You really do need to get it checked out asap. We are not doctors here, and sometimes we can lull ourselves into a false sense of security by giving sympathy. If your surgeon doesn't have supporting doctors, go see your GP. I think you need a barium meal xray to check you aren't leaking from the stomach. As I always say - better safe than sorry! All the best to you, K. | |

| hi and welcome there is a lot of great information here to help you along the way. Here are some links to get you started: The Diaries are a fantastic resource, and the Pre-op & Post-op sections will be helpful too.
Have a read of the Welcome to Newbies section too, it will give you an idea of how the site works, and if you want to put a ticker in your signature the instructions are there.
If you can't find answers to your questions, ask away :-) there is sure to be someone about to do their best to help and support you. shelly | |

| Hi all Been lurking here for a few weeks after meeting Carrie in Dr Martin's rooms. Had my surgery 3 weeks ago and all doing generally well until I lifted something too heavy and ripped something inside and couldnt eat anything for a couple of days! (lesson learnt!) Can't see Dr until his return from leave in late January so am mildly concerned but not enough to get me sitting in Accident and Emergency for hours! Apart from that and the associated residual pain I am really happy to have had the surgery. Quite impatient with the recovery time...I guess I thought I would be up and about as usual as soon as I got home from hospital, 3 days after surgery, although the enforced relaxation has been kinda nice. Thanks to all those who have contributed to all of the forums topics. It has been comforting to trawl through many of them and see the lovely support you all provide. Donna Inner West, Sydney | |
