Hi Shell,
Welcome to the site!
I haven't been sleeved yet, my op is 2nd Feb at SJOGM with Dr Stephen Watson.
I had slid back into BMI of 30-31, but it's sneaked up to 32.
I am 153 cm ( 5') and currently weigh about 73 kg. At my heaviest in 2000 I was 82.5 kg, my recent lightest - last year when I had tummy problems - 57 kg - that's *just* into healthy weight range.
Yes, thinking of the pre-op and immediate post-op can be daunting, but I think that the more you read and prepare for it, the less daunting it becomes. that's what I am doing anyway :)
It is natural to have second thoughts.
It's good maybe, to think of the alternatives of if you *don't* have the surgery.
? weight keeps on going up
? further unsuccessful dieting, yo-yoing, frustration and anger at self,
? more obesity related problems, some life threatening
? failed marriage
? immobility and related problems
? reduced life span
? poor esteem and lack of self confidence related to body image
? embarrassment
= poor quality of life...
A lot to think about!
I am also on banding together.au and they have a section for sleevers and for WA. Also lots of other interesting stuff.
I met someone yesterday who had been sleeved in July. His health problems have basically gone (hypertension and diabetes), he's lost 40 kg and has no regrets and nothing for him has gone wrong. I also bumped into a friend at the shops and she has a friend who was sleeved recently and apparently has had no problems. My friend is going to pass my details onto her friend so she can contact me if she wants.
All the best!!
