| Wow if lack of protein can make your hair fall out I wonder what else it is doing in your body? | |

| Oh, you can't really compare it, because she had the old stomach stapling op. No, she hasn't kept the weight off, but she recently went to see my doc and is planning on having the bypass op - she can't have the sleeve because of her previous op. The doc told her that the old op must have kept on working a bit, or she'd be weight 50kg or more greater than she currently is. She's 93kg now - I'm just waiting for the day I can get there! | I haven't experienced this myself - yet anyway! But I have a friend who had weight loss surgery about 20 years ago (didn't find out until I told her I was having it), and she said she lost lots of hair afterwards from not eating enough protein. She also said that as soon as she increased her protein intake, it stopped falling out. Food for thought...and hair! Chris | |

| Heavens I can sit on my hair it is THAT long so never fear it has not all fallen out. I just noticed what to mean seemed to be heaps in the hair brush. this has now gone right back to normal. to thicken my hair up would take years at the length it is :)

| My surgeon mentioned this. I wasn't worried because I have so much bloomin hair I thought it would be nice to lose some but I didn't think to check whether you lose it in clumps???? :[img]http://sm

| Like having a baby surgery usally results in a lot of hair loss a few months after. The terrible thin hair that bi-pass patients get in the US doesn't seem to be a problem I have heard of from sleevers. tho like Hayley I have PCOS so my hair tho there is lots of it *LOL* is on the very thin side and I did lose heaps and heaps between about 2 and 6 months out from surgery. Worst time was about 2 to 4 months. The product Hayley mentioned is meant to be excellent. the only other thing you can do is keep up your protien, tho again it is bipass patients who are the ones with the lack of protien problem feeding ourselves extra protien can so not hurt us in lots of way including great hair and nails :)

| Its called Telogen Effluvium, from weight loss and lack of protein, so get a good protein drink and some hair and scalp vitamins, Essential fatty acids and fish oils. Are you getting heaps of protein. Where is Nioxin available in Australia.
I lost hair a few years back from weight loss, it did settle and did grown back thick again. I asked my dietician about it, I will get back to you with what she reccommends.

| Yes!!! I am losing truckloads!! Its shocking. I am going to begin treatments with Nioxin very soon, and I have heard by trusted sources that it is the best treatment to stop womens hair loss in its tracks. I have PCOS as well, so my hair is already graying and falling out. I was going to start this exact topic... wow I am not alone.. I will update when I have started my treatment.
