Hi Ladies

No I don't know what test it was that was abnormal - I had a blood test.

I see my surgeon on the 19th so will find out more then and let you know.

Reducing fat intake does not derange liver function tests. There are multiple lab results that all reflect the liver - do you know which result was abnormal? There are several and some can be elevated without too many problems.

How is it abnormal? What test was it and what were the readings? I'm interested too...

Thanks Lib.

I am feeling quite a lot better today. Obviously am finally picking up from the cold I had - I just can't believe how long it took.

Tried a couple of chicken nuggets today for lunch and so far so good. It was nice to have something new and something different to soup or liquid!!

Most sleevers I am sure question what they have done and worry that they have made a mistake.....I know I certainly did. To be honest with you it took me 12months to feel normal. Then there are the lucky ones who adjust to the sleeve the minute they wake from the op. Be gentle on yourself. I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes the recovery is the pits, but in 6 months you'll know you've done the right thing, hang in there, rest up! I did make the mistake of blaming everything on the op, when in reality it was a cold or tummy bug, totally unrelated to the sleeve!

PostSubject: Re: NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP   NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP EmptySat 08 Jan 2011, 9:41 am

Hi Suzanne
I'm 5 weeks out and still feel tired quite a lot - I'd love to just curl up in bed all day and read my book or doze. Luckily for me my husband is on holidays the same time as me and he's quite a motivator for getting up and about (I call him my duracell bunny - he just goes and goes and goes!!).

I feel more alert if I eat a more balanced diet - I'll happily pop in an opti to fill the gaps.. it is so easy now not to eat all the nutrients we need. I'm trying with all the multi vitamins, fish oils and glucosamine (gee I feel old at times!) but have to halve the dose or I feel awful! I also sometimes have to remind myself to drink enough water.

Have you seen your dietician at all? I'm sure they will have encountered this before and have some answers.

With your sleeping pattern have you tried to make sure you don't nap through the day at all, have a little exercise to tire your body a bit and get up at the same time each day? A glass of milk with honey can be useful as calcium helps us sleep and honey adds to the effect.

You say you are very teary, have you talked with your doctor about this? As Zoe says major ops affect people in different ways and feeling tearful can be one of these post op signs.

Everyone here has such good advice - I think this sight is a life saver to be honest. The best advice we generally get comes from people who are suffering as we do and have seen their specialists and GPs.

Good luck Suzanne, I hope you feel better very soon and that you enjoy the benefits of your sleeve as many of us do.

Maybe have some shakes with added protein powder, this will get in fluids as well as lots of protein.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks for you comments Zoe and soulcatcher.

Am trying to eat protein - it's hard as eggs won't stay down.

I have some home made vegetable soup with protein in it so will try that for tea. I had some very finely sliced ham and cheese and for lunch.

Have spent some time in the sun today.

The hardest thing i'm finding is i want to sleep but just can't get to sleep - even of a night and I've never had this problem before.

Will just keep plodding along ....

Thanks.

Suzanne, everybody has a different experience. I was still pretty tired 2 months out. Many folks have some 'down' time emotionally, as the experience of major surgery and a major change in something so basic such as eating is huge.

Can you do protein drinks? Is your blood pressure normal? Do your absolute best to get in the protein each day. Also, can you sit in the sunshine? Watch funny movies? Check with a counselor?

You will get by this, Suzanne.

PostSubject: Re: NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP   NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP EmptySat 08 Jan 2011, 3:26 am

The summer cold has been really vicious this year, and I know people who HAVEN'T just had major surgery who are taking weeks to get over it.

One lady took two months leave to give herself enough time, but her kids are school aged sp it includes planned leave.

Lack of hunger is supposed to be one of the benefits of the surgery, but if you're not eating nutritious meals in the new form, you're not giving your body enough fuel to recover from your cold.

Send the doubter out shopping for some soups that are fresh, not from can. Add some extra veggies and protein and get some vitamins into your system. Drink lots, feel better soon.

It's only a blip on the path. Go sun yourself outside if it's not raining, or the mozzies aren't lurking.

You'll get back on track soon, everyone seems to be eating solids at different times, get over your cold first.

NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP Empty
PostSubject: NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP   NEARLY SEVEN WEEKS OUT AND FEELING LIKE CRAP EmptySat 08 Jan 2011, 1:37 am

Hi everyone

I must admit I have been a lurker and been reading posts but to date haven't joined in. I was sleeved on the 23rd November 2010.

I was starting to feel better over Christmas but got a cold and have gone downhill to the stage that I can barely get out of bed and function to just eat and drink.

I have been to the Drs and nothing apart from my liver function test is abnormal and told if i feel worse go to emergency. I am so tired but can't sleep, I am dizzy and find it hard to even sit in front of the tv or computer for any length of time.

Has anybody had this? I am also teary dreary and hubby thinks this is what I will now be like for the rest of my life after the sleeve and thinks I didn't research it enough. Everything I read everybody else is eating normally by now. I don't even feel like eating and and have to force myself to do that.

Hoping I am not alone.

Suzanne
