| Good advice Leann77!!
I try to limit my intake a bit, because at 45, your metabolism is a LOT slower!!
I know that if I was 30 and eating what I eat now, the weight would fall off me, and it just doesn't as you get older.
I stop losing weight if I snack between meals, it just a reality for me at my age, and I doing a lot of exercise, (50-60minutes at the gym -jogging, incline etc, heart rate at 140 plus for the entire time, 3-4 times a week) and still some weeks I don't lose weight, and this happens when is start eating between meals.
I guess we are all different, but I know I can eat a lot less than some people and not lose weight.
So, I guess it's all the big picture which i am trying to look at, if I only focused on the scale, I would have given up along time ago!!!'

| Some of you seem to be worried about eating alot of meals during the day but you shouldnt worry about that so much, eating regular healthy meals helps to speed up you're metabolism and stop you're body going into starvation mode. Also you need to remember that becuase we eat such small portion sizes we need to eat regular meals so that we are eating enough to give our bodies all the vitamins and minerals we need. Think about it....eating a cup of food just 3 times a day is not going to give you the daily requirements of all the important vitamins like protein, calcium, omega's, Vitamin B's...etc...etc.ever since I had my sleeve almost 12 months ago I have eaten 6-10 meals a day...anything from 2 hard boiled eggs, a small tin of tuna, glass of milk, etc etc and in that 12 months I still managed to loose 75kilos with only 30 mins twice - three times a week exercising. One other thing to be mind full of is you're goal weight is just a number, dont get too focused on it.....my goal weight told by my surgeon was 66kilos...i am done to 72 kilos and have been told I need to put on 1-2kilos now....once you get close to you're goal and if you have alot of loose skin you THINK you still have weight to loose but you dont and it makes it really easy to loose too much weight, and you think the seeing all the bones in you're neck so prominent is great lol but to the DR its showing that you've lost too much weight....so yeah dont get too caught up with the numbers its more about feeling fit and healthy. | |

| I found my biggest learning curve at your stage green star gazer, was to sip, sip, sip.... just to try to stop me having a mouthful, or half a mouthful, was hard. I swear I drank everything with a teaspoon for the first 5-6 days til my head and body got used to drinking that much at once. By the two week mark, I could drink a mouthful without feeling uncomfortable. It sounds like you are going great. I started my days with 1/2 and opti... in fact I still do, although I am only just over 3 weeks out. Good luck. | |

| You are doing fine.
I have noticed that a lot of sleevers feel they have to get back to eating 'normally'. Everyone is different in what they can and can't handle.
At the moment, I don't feel like I want to eat like I used to. I eat to live. I don't live to eat. My brain has done a complete turn about with regards to food. I don't think, 'Ooooh! I'm missing out!' I think, 'Meh! Better eat something or I'll fall down...'
I am following my dietitian's advice. She said that the snacks were not necessary (eating six to eight times a day) and I could give them up, and just have breakfast, lunch and dinner if I felt like it. So thats what I do. She also said no more than half a cup at a sitting of ANYTHING foodlike.
If I want to stretch my sleeve I can TRY to fit more in, but funnily enough, after paying that amount of money, and undergoing major surgery, I think I want to LOSE weight, and keep my tummy small.
After 9 months, my tummy will be fully healed, and I will be thin and healthy. That is my goal!
Take it one day at a time. Some days you will be hungrier than others, on those days, pace yourself, have six to eight little (1/2 cup meals) and you will be fine.
I am now happy to eat 3 small meals a day, with coffee, tea or water, and the weight is falling off easily and steadily.

| Today is my first day of free fluids. I've had: Panamax 20ml x 2 Nexium Berocca (in 200ml water) Sustagen 250ml Kids drinking yoghurt 70g Up n go 250ml Soluble panadeine (in 200ml water) Additional 500ml water I've had hardly any discomfort, indigestion or reflux since the surgery and I'm worried that I may be doing damage and my body just isn't letting me know. I can feel and hear grumbles and movement down there. I've been relatively mobile, getting up for a waddle every hour or two, going to the toilet ok and having bottom burps. Tomorrow I am planning to start the day with half an opti. I'd love some reassurance and/or advice. Edit- thank you to whoever moved this post, I couldn't find a thread to add it too. :D | |

| Interestingly, I was starving (or so I thought) as well post surgery. Found out later that it was reflux (which I had thought I never had). I thought it was odd that I was hungry as the surgery is supposed to resolve this. Zantac daily made the "hunger" go away. I wonder now if what I have always thought was hunger, was, in fact, reflux. ...just a thought.... Donna | |

| I'd rather go the extra egg for now than go for the sugary foods... the protein is what you need, and will speed up your weight loss.... double bonus! | |

| Kel, rather than the one more egg, have a piece of fruit, or a yoghurt.
You are probably just starting to enjoy food again. Its good that you can drink so much water! I still struggle with three glasses a day, but I expect this improves.

| Ok Im 3 weeks post op and have been feeling more and more hungry for the last few days. Im starting to wonder if im eating too much as my weight loss has slowed down so much. But im still eating 5 - 6 meals a day and drink about 1 - 1.5 litres of water a day..crazy though im starting to crave more water and less sugary drinks. Im finding that im more hungry during the day and when it comes time for dinner i eat such a small amount. like this morning I had a scrambled egg for breakfast and now im contemplating one more egg. So im not sure what to do or if there is something im doing wrong? Hope everyone had a great weekend Kel | |

| I sometimes find i put a too big a piece of food in my mouth, which is ok if i chew chew chew, But ocasionally i swallow a bit which i didnt chew enough from habit. And i sit there waiting for the pain.
Luckily i havent had a constant pain, i tend to get it coming and going for half an hour when i have either eaten too much or too fast.
Im looking forward to the day when i can eat a bit more and a bit more normally, as currently i dread when i have to eat because of reflux. I want to enjoy what i do eat one day.
But i am pleased i can drink a bit more than i could 2 weeks ago. Im 5 weeks post op today.
Its hard work, but we'll get there

| Easily done, I'm afraid - our brains just take a long time to catch up with our bodies. Take it from a slow learner in this area, who still makes mistakes! Hope you can resist next time! | |

- Hi there
Sorry to hear you've had to learn that lesson the hard way, but hope you're feeling better now. No, you haven't stretched your sleeve - but it could be a good idea to go really easy on it today, and stick to stuff that's really to digest and not too much of it. I find takeaway a real challenge for judging portions unless I use my usual little bowl and put everything in it at once - it means the flavours get mixed up, but I don't end up the same way you did last night! And believe me, it's taken me a long time to learn that lesson! The funny thing, I had a little bit on my plate I ate it too fast and then put a "more" little bit and ate that too fast. Wont be doing that again.

I will NEVER do that again. On top of that the Indian was crap, new owners!! What I want to know is, have I stretched my stomach????

breakfast 2 eggs 1/2 slice of toast if you struggle with breakfast an opotifast
mtea forme yoghurt or tin tunja or a boiled egg or a couple slices of cold meat ie ham wraped up with a low fat cheese slice in the middle pop ina slice of capsicuk or cucumber or something you fancy or. protien bar or protien shake
lunch 100grams of a good source of protien with a side sald pick colourful veg and eat all protien first salad only if there is room. good source of protien beef chicken fish tofu. weigh this a slice of ham is NOT 100 grams
atea same as mtea
dinner same as lunch or make it veg but again protien first veg only if any room left

when you can consume at least 100grams of a good protien source 3 times a day and not feeling hungry you can add fruit or treats to the mtea list

| Hi WD,
I have to agree with Apple, you don't seem to be getting anywhere near enough protein. Try some light cottage cheese or some of those Forme Satisfy Yoghurts (they are high in protein), little tins of tuna are good too. My dietician told me that if I didn't have enough protein I wouldn't lose weight and that has proved to be true when I let the protein slip. If you can't get enough with food, try a protein powder or bar every now and then.
Cheers - Carrie :-) | |

Im in my 4th week and eating purees. I feel hungry within the hour of eating and it's actually stomach hunger!
Is this normal? I feel like im eating too much and sometimes think did i really get sleeved?
I think im one of those 'hungry' sleevers!
I have just finished my 4th week and OMG i hear you, i was hungry ALL the time and i felt like i was eating alot. in 4 weeks i have lost 14 liko's, so the start of my 5th week i weigh myself and i have put on .4.... i was absolutely gutted, but i know it was because i was eating to much because i was hungry all the time. i didnt think it was possible to eat to much... boy was i wrong. so i dont have a solution to your problem i just wanted to let you know your not the only one. Is it normal? who knows... im on the 3rd day of my 5th week and im still hungry, but what i can tell you is that i have cut out all the snacks and i only eat 3 meals which has helped alot because alot of my hunger was not drinking enough water so now that i dont have snacks i just drink, but i also gave up smoking 9 weeks ago ( woohoo to me ) so i suck suger free eclipse mints all day every day i think they have like 18kj or something like that sucking them helps my hunger maybe you could try something like that and i also found that if you are really really hungry even just a bite of something is enough to make the hunger go away. Dont worry i think " did i really get sleeved" all the time as i had no internal pain at all when i ate. this is what i ate yesterday breakfast -single serve of porridge.. probably ate about 3/4 of it maybe less lunch- a rice cake with spreadable tuna and a slice of cheese dinner - mashed roast vegies... ate about 3/4 to 1 cup and water water water every few days i might have a flavoured water ( alot of sugar i know.. about 20gms per bottle, naughty ) and some times i have a diet cordial i also have half a coffee with 1 equal and skim milk i only have half because it usually goes cold and i have to tip it out. I dont know if this is to much or not enough, but as long as i drink water im not getting to hungry. I know this is probably not going to help you much, but atleast you know your not the only one that is hungry all the time. LOL
