I know its weird. When I had the hope I held out hope of getting to 75kg. I have blitz that, and am now wondering how the hell I get it to stop!!! I wouldn't mind losing a bit more, but I don't want to look unhealthy. Maybe 4 more kg, but it just melts off, I can't control it. I must start doing some exercise and see if I can build some muscle under the flabby butt.

The fear of the unknown worries me a bit. The fact that the op hasn't been around for long has me worried about the long term effects and regain. I am nearly 8 months post op and still losing, but its got to stop somewhere and if I keep eating the shit I am eating now, I wouldn't be surprised if I put weight back on.

Hi snowman congratulations on your weightloss! Iam only a couple of months out from op and I have always wondered if anyone started putting on weight long term. My surgeon told me that it is possible to put back 10% as the tummy settles so this would explain a bit of weight gain. I feel for you and often wonder if this could happen to many of us as there just isnt any real long term data the other sleevers have given you great advice but like you , I want to hear from more long term sleevers as well so that I can be prepared for whatever lies ahead, take care and good luck.

The surgeon that is doing my sleeve conversion said if this happens to me later on (and it is not uncommon in general - just uncommon on this board) that he will convert the sleeve to a DS at no extra charge for me.

You've lost a lot of weight. To keep it off a DS conversion might be just the thing you need? The sleeve is the first part of the DS surgery, it is where they got the sleeve from.

I know how hard it is when you surgery stops working the way it was. My band eroded and the same thing happened with weight gain. Ask your surgeon about the DS if you dont feel you can keep it off with self-restricted diet alone. And lets face it if any of us could diet long term we would not have needed the surgery in the first place... i hate it when people tell us to just diet. This is a tool, but if the tool isn't working any more we need to get a new one.

Good Luck :-)

Drinking calories is a big no-no with my surgeon, especially soft drink and juice.

You are amazing. I hope to be a story like you in a couple of years.

Just last week I was at my Gastric Center and I asked about the "stomach stretching
out" issue which evolved into the conversation about possibly gaining weight
later down the road. The response, and I'm not saying I know this is true or just the "official"
answer was that if you start to gain, make sure you have gone back to the food
only every 3 hours and to concentrate on that food being protein. Also go back
to being careful to not drink 30 minutes before or after. She said that it's typically
more about the meal cycle habit of how you eat than what you eat.

Also, one more thing. If there's any chance you are drinking calories, cut those for a while. She said folks might be drinking some juice or milk products where, for a while until
you get things back steady, you could get that nutrition from supplements rather than
liquid that does not stay in the stomach for any length of time.

Again, I don't know personally about it but that was the answer I got.

Wow mate 106kgs!!!

Thats freakin awesome!!!! I am only 10 weeks out tomorrow so cant help :) But I think a trip to your dietician might help as Janette suggested...I think we all have to remember that the sleeve is still only a tool and what we feed our tummies is totally up to us...I have changed the whole lifestyle thing too which I think is important..exercise every day blah blah blah...lol

Good luck mate...have you got pictures of before and after?? that would be great to see

Hi Snowman,

There aren't too many pioneers on here who have had the sleeve as long as you.

I had my surgery 17 months ago and can eat more but I haven't put weight back on.
There is one other lady I know had the surgery a couple of years ago and has also kept it off. Maybe you need have another look at the types of foods you are eating. Have you changed your eating habits or gone back to old ways?
