| Hi and I realise most here love Dr Taylor.
I agree it is very professional practice and a very sleek operation. I didn't have a good experience. I had a lap band December 2010 and lost weight only I believe as I was exercising. To cut a long story short in early 2012 I had my port replaced and then still not working so I went for a third operation to have a new lap band. I have struggled to loose weight and to be honest stop going to see him as throughout these stages I always felt like he blamed me for not working hard enough. I have now decided to go for another opinion with SIOS in Ashfield and I hope they will help me.

| Hi all,
I have just recently decided to go with Dr Taylor and am just wondering if anyone has a recent update regarding criteria for having surgery done at concord as a self funded patient. I am looking to use my super funds. I have not been diagnosed with any other conditions but have a BMI of 44, so I am just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and have they been accepted to have op done at concord....
Oh and how long roughly did you wait from first consultation to surgery date :)

| Lemon poppy seed, I have not kept off my weight but I'm in the process of trying to, if you go into the clinic and you've put on weight hell be straight onto it , and find out why. But I live 7 hours front he clinic so it's hard, for me, to stay on track. I really only have about 7kg to take off! It's not a buggy, but don't want to let it lag, ...

| Hi, Is there anyone being done on the 30th at the SAN? Dr Taylor is really nice, I was shaking in the waiting room, once he started talking I relaxed and he had me laughing. He is to the point but understanding. He puts things in perspective. I do feel safe being left in his care, just praying very hard that I along with all sleevers come out the other side healthier and safe.

I've made jelly too...I just read that you can make jelly with some strawberries and then add that to the shake...yumm. I bought Optislim...just a good deal at the chemist, but I've read that Optifast is more filling...that could be why I was still peckish ..LOL. Yes who will be first....paper,scissors,rock....? |

Saw Dr Taylor on the 27th Feb and have my surgery on the 22nd March, yay!
Just wondering how everyone found Dr Taylor? On my initial app he was very late and I was 2 minutes away from missing my train home, I live 3 hours away so it was the last train for the day. So the app was very fast! He seemed really nice.
Just wanting to know if all went well with the Dr and surgery? He seems to have a very good rep.
Thanks Shell x Hi Shell, Are you going to the SAN? I'm booked in for the SAN on the 22nd...I can't wait...nervous...but really excited. I saw Dr Taylor on Friday...he was only running a little late, but took lots of time to explain the surgery as I took my Mum in and she had quite a few questions |

Is anyone else seeing Dr Taylor soon? I am going to see him on the 22nd April. I have all 3 appts on that day as I am coming down from Brisbane for him to do my surgery. I have also paid and booked a date for surgery cause I wanted to get it done before the end of this financial year so I can get the tax money back sooner rather than having to wait 12 months

| Hi,
I found that to be a little nervy, although I had already gone through it when my partner was sleeved. The fellow is adorable! Just like the rest of the team at OClinic. They actually make you feel human.
Don't stress about it. Its just to see where your head space is at! I went in there thinking that I am not going to make it aware that my weight is the cause for a lot of issues in my life, however I felt I could be honest with him enough to let him know that I am aware that these issues are so because of my weight, however I am ready and prepared to take charge of it.
I think you get put off as we see it as a sigh of weakness, where they see it much differently. I suggest you go in there be your self and be honest, as this is where your journey will start. (unless your a raging lunatic)...... Ha ha ha ha!!
The one thing I though I would struggle with is that I think because of the weight I carried I developed this "Jolly" persona (the kind chubby people get to hide whatever pain they have endured from being heavy) I didn't want to lose that side of me but because I wouldn't have to hide anymore, I wondered how I would go...... does that even make sense?? LOL

| Hi Kelly,
Thank you for your reply.
Its always nice to hear others opinions and experiences. My partner was sleeved by Dr Craig Taylor (17 months ago) and although he can provide me with some guidance and I have seen first hand the transformation nothing beats hearing other stories to compare against. Especially for me, hearing what other WOMEN have experienced.
I guess I am nervous about the appointment as this is a new concept as My partner had gone through Concord and never had to endure most of these examinations. However he did have underlying medical conditions.
Like you, I guess I have never really put much thought into things like as to "why I am fat"... all I know is that I am where I am now because I obviously couldn't contain my portion sizes and ther sheer enjoyment of food.
I will tough it out as the hardest part isn't even here yet!! LOL
Congrats on your success so far.

| Hi Kelly :)
I'm happy to help in any way so ask as many questions as you like.
I don't think there is right or wrong answers - she does say she wants to support us the best way she can so I think as long as your honest. I just found some questions difficult to answer as I had never really thought about them before.
I'm an emotional eater and for that reason she was more concerned that I wouldn't be successful.
I had no health issues to support my application which I was worried about however I did say I wanted to fall pregnant in the future. Dr Taylor said the only reason I didn't was due to my age and the concern was also my high bmi.
Good luck :) but dont worry I think she will approve you! Kelly

- Hi Nicole
I went through the same process as you will with Taylor.
At this appointment you meet with the endocrinologist - it goes for about half hour. They weigh you and discuss quite personal in your face questions. I.e why are you so fat, how will this surgery help you if you haven't helped yourself up to now. She is quite abrupt and in your face and not very pleasant. I even had to pull my pants down to my thighs to show her my stomach as she discusses skin and possible problems with excess after surgery.
I did tell Taylor what happened and he said she is like that but unfortunately in order for him to operate at Concord you must see her.
She sends a recommendation to the OClinic within a few days and your surgery could be booked within two weeks of that depending on Taylors schedule. The wait wasn't long at all.
Hope all goes well for you!!
Kelly Hi Kelly, I too am going to be going through this process. Can I ask you a few questions please? Is there right and wrong answers to the question? I wouldn't want to reduce my chances of surgery if I happen to not provide the right answer. Did/Do you have any underlying health issues that supported your case? Thank you in advance Kelly :)

Yes it all happened really fast so I would say it should be about the same for you!!
I found the hospital and nurses really good and nice. Make sure you ask for morphine shots not the oral pain relief as it takes half an hour to drink the liquid due to the foul taste and the fact that it causes nausea.
We had to continue to hound the nurses to get the doctor to approve the morphine but it's by far better than the other stuff.
