| I have been to see a neurologist today about the numbness in my legs. Turns out its not a B12 deficency (which he said is quite an unusal thing to have anyway), its from crossing my legs. Now that I don't have the padding on my knees anymore, my knee cap pushes on the nerve that helps my leg function. He said I have no muscle tone in my shin. He could see that by just looking at it. He said I could wear a brace on my ankle to stop ''ankle drop" which I have, and it has caused a few falls, but it shouldn't be necessary. He is sending a report to my dr and will put me on some meds to reduce the inflamation in the nerve and says it should be back to normal in a few weeks. they can do it by a needle or tablets so just to wait and see now what the dr does. If that doesn't work in 4 weeks he said an orthapedic surgeon can cut into my leg and release something that should fix it. So I'll pop off to the dr on friday (when he should have the report) and get these meds into me. I think he said that the injection would be cortizone? I have been walking a bit weird to compensate for my droopy foot, so that should go back to normal soon too!
Also on the weight side of things, seems I have finally stablised. I haven't lost any weight for about 3 weeks and I have also been able to manage a fairly normal diet.
So hooray, I think I might be coming right!!

| OMFG, I very nearly thought I would die, but I didn't I made it, and I am amazed!! The last klm was the hardest. I had mum a bit worried I got to the finish line and started to be sick, and it went on for probably an hour, quick as I felt better, I would then start being sick again!
I am sure that I will feel it tomorrow!!
JAYNAY - Thats probably Libby's diary you are reading I don't have one :P I was sleeved by Dr Daoud, so if thats who you are thru I'd guess thats the meeting you missed. It was quite a small one this week, but they are all worth while to get to, to meet ppl who have been there and done that is fantastic.

| Congratulations Lib! 5 K's, always wanted to be fit and healthy to do something like that. In saying that I hate exercise. Are you really going to run or will you walk? By the way you look great. Good Luck, enjoy Max | |

| Hi Lib
Wow you have done so well. I am currently at your beginning weight so to know that four months after my surgery I could be at goal is amazing. I was supposed to go to the support meeting on Sat (pretty sure its the same one you are going to) but my nine year old daughter has her hockey trophy ceremony on Sat morning. I am really disappointed as I was looking forward to going and meeting anyone who has gone through the surgery. Hopefully I can go to the next one but it may be after my surgery. APRA is taking for ever with my application and I can't sleep and can't stop eating worrying that it won't be approved and I will have to cancel it. Oh well just keep crossing my fingers. Does your family know that you have been sleeved - do people think less of you because you didn't loose the weight the traditional way. A few people have said to me that it's a cop out taking the easy road. I have read your diary and nothing about it seems easy to me though. Thanks for sharing your success. I think it is unreal that you are going on a fun run. Wow it has really changed your life.

| Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much, been pretty busy at work!
I am still not able to eat a lot, I vomit when I eat things quickly, but I can tolerate most things, except bread, which I knew was going to be out!
Yesterday I hit my goal, and today I went below it! I would never ever have thought that in 4 months my life would have changed so considerably.
I have hit size 14, started at a 22, so thats a huge difference. Now I just need clothes, but I dont want to buy too much until I am stable!
I have a support group meeting on Sat, so I will be asking how to stop my weightloss before I start to look too drawn!
Thank you all for your support up to this point! This forum has been a lifesaver for me, at my lowest, it managed to keep me propped up.
Thank you all x | |
