| thanks for the advice to every person that posted. I believe the decision was a long time coming, I've always had weight problems. My love affair with food has kept me from doing allot. I believe its time to break up. Even if I act like a sook when reality is too confronting. Had a look at youtube and got inspired to keep on track. No more food porn for me. | |

| I'm not sure how long you thought about going to see a surgeon about the possibility of this kind of surgery but I know for me I had been thinking of doing something for several months. When I finally got an appointment it was a 2 month wait and I was disappointing that it didn't happen earlier for me it has gone really quite well not much pain just discomfort. As far as the eating goes it is boring more then anything in the beginning most people have to go through 3 stages before they get to the "normal eating" so that is about 8 weeks after. I am about to commence soft that means stews etc and soft veg. I expect more variety and food more like I was eating before only very very little and no junk my arch enemy.
I have had some challenges already anxiety, slight nausea whilst out after to much exercise and slower then expected weight loss but mostly I feel pretty good. I know it was sadly the only thing for me I wish I could have just gone on a diet and stuck to it but I never do. I always go off it and end up bigger and depressed. So yes Lin is right it can have some down effects but for me I had those same down effects after dieting before failing and looking at myself in the mirror etc. So I suppose what ever path we take there may be obstacles that effect our way forward.
I believe a lot of the doubt you have may be more around things like is it painful will I be able to stick to it will I regret my decision after will something go wrong. I don't think there would be one person on this site who didn't think some or all of those things. I will not say that things don't go wrong they do and that some people may regret it but if you look around on the site more and more over the next 2 weeks you will see that the chances are low for problems and surprisingly even those who have struck trouble still say that they believe they did the right thing overall.
Keep researching right up to the day you can always cancel last minute but you know i don't think you will. Good luck.

I am yet to be sleeved too and am set for June 28th. Initially the surgeons room said I was looking at end of July, early August, and I was bloody disappointed!!!! They then had a cancellation and I came forward by 6 weeks. For me, that is a good thing as I have a finite target, however, by the time I made the decision I had done the research and I knew in my heart it was what I needed to do. Sure, you just saw the surgeon, but the process which has brought you to this point did not start then, look into your heart and determine if this is what you really want/need, as if the answer is yes, then go for it I say. If you have doubts, speak to the surgeon and delay the operation, it is not as if it is urgently required or anything, and, it is irreversible. We each have our own reasons, issues, health problems and mindset to deal with and you must do what is right for you. Good luck mate

| I don't want to be a downer, just be aware that for some sleevers things seem to go very well and others not so. I am nearly 12 mths out and am still getting use to it. For me I still battle emotional eating and even working out when I should eat. I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis after having a colonscopy. It means I need to up my fibre intake which as my surgeon says is hard having a sleeve but have been given a few suggestions. Also am now lactose intolerant and I also can't tolerate certain foods. Be aware that your mental health can take a battering so you may need assistance either now or down the track. I am grateful for my sleeve and I waited around 18 or so months before I got it but no regrets. Just be prepared that it might not be smooth sailing. I am grateful that I have so much energy compared to before. Lots of pros too cheers | |

| I felt the same way initially, I have had to wait 4 months for mine, due to be sleeved on 19th Aug but hoping to be able to get in earlier, cross fingers, i went through all the ranges of what have I done, is this a good idea, can I deal with it, do I want it, etc etc, over time and research I have realised that it is the right thing to do, I do have a food addication and this is the only way I will be able to lead a "normal" life, now can't wait for it to happen, Í hope you will be the same. | |

| Do you think you would be feeling this way if you had a July date instead? It is a big descisson and will be a life changing one, I need a tool that will help me with the volume of food, the first 6 months you and your new tummy will be getting use to each other, but after that you will be able to most things but just in a smaller amount. Welcome to being a Juneever ,,I would be happy to add you to the list of those being sleeved in June. Check out the sleevers monthly section and look for June 2013 , and you will find the rest of the Juneevers . All the best Love Btgirl | |

| OMG what have I done?
I’m sitting here at work just realizing the magnitude of the decision I made a week ago for an operation that will take place in less than 2 weeks.
I mistakenly attended my consultation this past Monday, which was meant to be in Late July. Got in anyways because I turned up early on the Monday when people tend to cancel their appointments.
During the conversation with the doctor he advises me they had a recently cancelled sleeve operation opening to fill for the 17th of June.
I took it… and now I’m just realizing how S*%t scared I am at what is about to happen. So I’ve had less than 3 weeks from mind being made up to procedure date and have just realized the ramification of my decision making.
Someone tell me its not a problem...
