| How's anyone/everyone? I've had a few nasty, enormous binges but am planning [a flexible, easy enjoyable plan] what to eat everyday and making it easy to follow. I've found a great article/book that's helped me feel good about exercise and now I'm back to planning a short gentle workout plus walk each day and if I zap it up or go longer I feel great instead of planning a longer tougher workout and feel I can't achieve it.
I'm hoping to get appointments with a local/visiting dietician and psychologist to help with my issues and keep me more accountable. I'm reading and writing more on this forum to feel connected with others.

| Hi Chereign I have to wait until end of November and I had my surgeons appointment last September and my next one is this September. I am waiting for my PHI also and then we have a holiday booked so will have to wait till we get back from that. My dieticians appointment is is August. Ive had great plans to try and lose some weight and exercise while im waiting but so far nothing has come to fruitian. Im just too plain lazy I think. I do good for a few days with the dieting then blow it again. Driving me nuts because I know what I should be eating and I know how to do it but I just dont and now im putting on more weight and feeling more and more down and useless and fat. Its just a viscious cycle tht I dont seem to be able to break and I dont know why. I hope this surgery will work for me and Im worried tht it wont but just hope it will. Good luck to you on your journey and hope you have a lot of success. Veronica - chereign wrote:
- So Gruggy and all of you lovely people,
I am not dealing with this wait well at all, I had a moment where I downloaded the forms to withdraw my superannuation and just pay for the bloody surgery!!! Sensible Chereign said this was not such a flash idea and so i have since put this idea to rest and decided to suffer through the next 48 weeks (woo hoo, the time really is counting down!!!)...
I really like the ideas about getting exercise regimes back in to order and trying to focus on possibly taking care of my emotional health a little more and controlling my portion sizes a little better...
Does anyone else have fears about the surgery not working, I worry that this surgery will not work for me and I sill still be fat!!! this sends my level of anxiety through the roof!!! :) am I normal??
So I have my dietician appointment in a week and my surgeon appointment in a month, am I way to far out to start this ball rolling?? Have I mentioned im a doer and like to get things done like yesterday LOL

| What do you mean its a head game??? I mean in what way??? She is a weight loss surgery specialist, you have to see her before you can visit the surgeon to ensure that its really for you.... I'm excited to get things happening but im painfully aware my headspace will be a battle!!! I usually give 150% but then lose stamina and give up, so my goal is to not do this :) | |

| Just remember 'patience is a virtue'. Is the dietician a WLS specialist? Time will fly use it be as prepared as you can be. The more you get your head sorted the better as it really is a head game once the stomach settles and you can start eating solids. | |

| oh and my PHI will be good to go on the 17th of March, so I better be booked in on the 18th :)
on the upside, I am a theatre nurse so I have spent the last month keeping an eye on the two surgeons who do this procedure here and have finally made a decision about who I want to make me beautiful!!!

| I had to see a psychologist for the surgery and we spent the whole hour discussing this waiting period and how to deal with it and I feel so much better about it. I'm working on taking care of myself emotionally, enjoying my exercising instead of thinking I have to work to the max or it's not worth it, concentrating on eating some of my food slower and trying to cut down my sugar binges. All this without any pressure to have results, just because I love and care about myself, knowing that the sleeve will work on getting results. 2014 here we come :-) | |

| Miss Hollywood, I agree with everything you're saying.
Like many others before, I just want the surgery tomorrow. I have another 10.5 months to go and want to wish the year away. Bring in 2014

| Hey everyone!! I'm in this exact same situation right now! gah!! I have been waiting since september when I upgraded my HI to the top level of cover. It's now April and I just couldn't wait around and do nothing.. I was so impatient I got my referral, had my first consultation with the surgeon a couple of weeks ago and have booked the psych, dietician and physician appts all in one day back to back next month. Then my pre-op appt in June when i'll find out my surgery date - which will have to be after Oct 8th when my cover kicks in. I just HAD to get the ball rolling... i'm so glad I did so that I can jump straight in to surgery come october... but GOSH!!! 6 months still feels like a REALLY REALLY long time!!! I keep thinking about it every day and researching more and more even though I think i'm practically an EXPERT by now! lol I even started researching post weight loss cosmetic surgery! (Tad extreme I know) Anyway i'm so glad I came across this forum. It's so comforting to know there are such united little online communities such as this one, where everyones in the same/similar situations. Chat soon, Natalie | |

| hi, can't remember if I have posted on this topic before. I ended up waiting 18mths before the surgery and looking back it gave me alot of time to prepare as possible. It wasn;t easy but I started working on my mindset and losing some weight. Increased exercised, lessen portions however I still struggled and did go up and down abit on the scales etc.
Having more time before surgery can be a bonus as it can help you prep for the changes you will make. It will still be hard afterwards of course. Also gave me alot of time to keep researching the sleeve and talking to people. A friend had one and it was a quick process for her and she wasn't told alot and I seem to know more about things then her.
So look at this waiting period as you are studying for a degree and waiting to graduate. THere are also books you can read too

- Hi Chereign, when are you going to have your surgery?
My PHI kicks in Jan 2014, I'll see my surgeon again in October and we'll set a date then, probably February. It seems like such a long wait. I'm still a bit all over the place trying to figure out how to deal with it. I've put on a lot of weight over the past year or 2, I am an extreme yo yo er and I think I could lose some weight before my surgery date, I need to as I feel so yuck but it's hard getting the right mindset. I have always exercised though, but have made my program a lot shorter and slower over the last year so I want to work on that. I would like to get my house in order too, that would be a good goal to boost myself I think, too much crap. How are you going to deal with this wait?

| My 12 months wait is almost over, getting done tomorrow!!!
For all those still waiting.....the time really does speed by!! The trick is to keep busy, keep living life, dont get too hung up on your surgery 12 months down the track...
I had the best intentions of trying to lose some weight, start to exercise during my 12 month wait....but nothing fell into place for me until I had to start my Optifast diet 6 weeks ago. Trust that it will happen, dont put too much pressure on yourself (afterall, its the pressure we put on ourselves that leads to self-loathing and yoyo dieting!!) Try and get into a good headspace of accepting yourself and your decisions, whatever they may be :)
Happy waiting everyone :)

Kel congrats!! It will go super fast! What I did was try not to think about it too much until around the 6 month mark and then when I had 5 months left, I started with all the pre op visits etc.
Where in Melbourne are you Kel and have you decided on what surgeon you're going with?
