| I just wanted to share my NSV so far. I was pre-diabetic prior to surgery and taking tablets, I am now off the meds. High blood pressure medication cut by 1/2 a tablet. I hope that this is just the start of things to come Vicky | |

| I have two -
1. I no longer need the CPAP machine. Which is great news because I hate it. I also do not snore anymore - another yay especially for my wonderful husband
2. I shared here a few ago how I could put the tray table down well on a flight I took to Canberra. I went to Brisbane last Friday and the seat belt fit no extension. ( it didn't fit on the way home - either a different aircraft or the bad food I ate whilst I was away)

| Fantastic Chris, That is one of the best of all NSV's because it involves health !!
Mama, every time that I see you on here I just can't help myself, inside my head goes this "Mana woo woo" from the song by queen and so every time I have a little giggle just wanted to share that LOL

| Yes Chris - that's definitely a very real NSV. Being able to paint your toenails is icing on the cake but turning around our health problems is the essential, most important thing. Fantastic.

| Well done, Mama - way to go!!! Fantastic NSVs to share. I have a new one myself today - I've just had the doc agree for me to go off the last of my diabetes meds - hooray!!! Hard to believe that just 18 months ago I was taking so much, and now down to none - the op was worth it for this reason alone! Hugs Chris | |

| Am so looking forward to being able to do the contortionist thing with my toenails, can do it with one foot so far but not the other!! And as for the planes, maybe I wont be so frightened of flyinf if I dont have to hold my breath for the whole flight!! Maybe it could become a goal... T'would be nice to see other places without driving there I spose?? | |

| That is totally fantastic Mama. Being comfortable (sort of) in economy and traveling by yourself - WOW.
And toenails! Excellent.
My daughter just got back from the USA and had the opposite problem. She is normal size but had someone sitting next to her who took up 1.5 seats! Poor kid. And the plane was full so no chance of her moving anywhere!
Bad for the overweight person and bad for her too.

| I've just returned from 3 weeks in the US and travelling economy class minus 27kg was HEAVEN - even though it was about 22 hrs on planes each way. I can fit both arms by my side inside the arm rests - who'd have thought!! I walked all day and still felt fine the next, felt heathy, happy and confident to try new things. Before meeting up with family I spent a week travelling by myself, just to see if I could do it. In one place I stayed in a hostel for 4 nights and slept in a 6 bed dorm - really positive interaction with much younger women. I went out at night by myself - why is it easier to sit at a restaurant table by yourself if you're not really really overweight? I'm fairly sure I would have been daunted by some of the challenges a year ago. Oh, and I lost 1.5kg while away.
AND yesterday I painted my toenails sitting on a chair, bending down, with my feet on the floor - I could reach AND breathe!!
Life is feeling pretty good.

Allie, good luck with the seat belt on Friday - before you know it, you'll also be able to have the tray table down all the way! Hugs Chris Thats the frustrating part, the tray table already fits down ( and it feels awesome) but teh seat belt doesn't fit yet. The ironic thing about the tray table is that when they would bring food around I would always say NO because I was embarassed the tray table didn't fit. Now the tray table fits I have to say no because I can't fit the food in (unless its a scheduled meal time)

| We went to a football game this weekend and everytime someone needed to get out of the row we were sitting on, I just sat there and turned my legs a little to let them get by. In years past I would have to stand up each time. wow, my life has changed. | |

| Great NSV everyone, well done. I have a small one myself today. I just noticed that when I stand, I can now stand with my feet completely together and touching, used to be a bit of a gap there cause the fat thighs and legs got in the way. Not only this, but my ankles bones and knee bones touch as well, what a strange feeling. I actually have more noticeable bones (although I have noticed this for a while now). Really notice the bones in bed too especially when I am lying on my side, can feel my ribs (and underlying cavity, can actually get my hands feeling under my ribs) and hips and collar bones and shoulder bones and jaw bones. I mean I actualy have bones and am not totally comprised of fat and tissue, what a nice strange feeling. | |

| I HATE asking for the extension to the the seat belt
My first goal is to be able to do the seat belt up with out the extra belt - I am about 1 or 2 inches away. Flying to Brisbane on Friday so hopefully no extension to the belt

| Thanks everyone! Oh, the dreaded cafe chairs I used to hate those suckers, but now they don't faze me at all! And the seat belt on the plane is fantastic - it's just so embarrassing having to ask for an extension, isn't it? Ha ha -- love the son touching his elbows. And I love it that my hubby can put his arms all the way around me now, too. LOL about the wedding dress - a good excuse to buy a new one, but don't expect to stay in it for too long! Well done, everyone! Chris | |
