First topic message reminder :

Hey Lovelies,

Day 20 and I'm finding that so long as I stick to the half an hour each side rule I am able to drink coke zero without any pain or discomfort. Admittedly its not a lot, a few mouthfuls every few minutes and the whole thing is normally flat by the time I get to the end of it. Is this ok?

I was the same alice.r and it's all about not putting pressure on the staple line. I was a huge diet coke drinker pre sleeve. Now I don't drink any soft drink at all. There is a comment in a thread on here somewhere about the chemicals in some diet soft drinks that make you hungrier. Sorry I can't remember exactly what thread it is in, someone else may be able to.

i'd check with the surgeon's rooms. i wasn't allowed as the gas can put pressure on your staple line. maybe give them a call to double check.

Hey honey!

You are doing really well! I'm having my first dietician appointment tomorrow so I dont know all the 'rules' yet. If Coke Zero is the thing you want most and the thing you crave than having a small amount is probably ok. I've read that other sleevers are having coffee/tea etc so it can't be overly bad. Just remember that it is an 'empty' drink to have, so you are not gaining anything from having it. I think as long as you are still having adequate amounts of water and your prescribed vitamins than all should be ok. The fizz may fill you up more so than other beverages as well. But if you are happy and not in any pain I don't think it should be an issue.

Good luck x
