| they are all different, even to my surgeon and dietician having different opinons!
dietician
1500 (can't remember the units) of calcium a day 50-60g protein a day (30-40 in the first 2 weeks) fluids are most important
doc
don't worry re the calcium 25g protein can start back at gym (lifting light weights - i was doing quite heavy ones) 2 weeks after - i waited 3 weeks and am starting tomorrow 800 cals for the rest of the weight loss fluids are most important
confusing isn't it fwiw i have taken on the 'bold' advise
cheers mel

| Hi Elaine,
Have a read of the Post-op section and the Exercise section, plus, the Search button at the top of the page is your friend. There is masses of information here, but as Jeanette said, your surgeon and or dietitian are your best guide. They all seem to have their own requirements and recommendations so check with them too.
Cheers - Carrie | |

| All this information should be given to you by your surgeon and dietician. Good luck with your surgery | |

| Hi. ok where do I start? Op booked for 4 October I am trying to do as much research into the post op diet to ensure a good recovery period, care of new tummy and of course best weight loss. It seems that the first couple of weeks is healing time and the main thing is to get fluid in - yes? How many calories should I be eating after this period? What does my body need to stay healthy i.e. protein - carbs etc? I think thats my great worry - to stay healthy hem hem... er become healthy! How soon can I start to exercise - would like to start the gym and then, who knows, SWIMMING, If I have already missed a thread with this type of information could somebody point me in that direction please.
much love elaine | |
