| Hi Denzel,
That link was great! I'm only 3 weeks post op today, so far I'm not making any of those mistakes but I will definitely keep them in my mind so I don't start making those mistakes :)

| Hi JohnoT,
Wow, what an awful thing to have happen to you! It must be such a disappointment - to say the least.
When does your surgeon recommend having the bypass? Are they going to try anything else before going to that step? I just couldn't imagine it.
I know that sometimes I still feel hungry (esp. when the kids or hubby are eating something I once really enjoyed right near me) but I guess I'm lucky in that a little tiny bit of something in my tummy takes care of it for a good few hours. I wouldn't say I've ever felt "full" when comparing to the old feeling of full - but just not hungry. If I was feeling hungry like that all the time there's no way this would work for me... I guess it wouldn't work for any of us if that were the case. I really feel for you!
I really hope the next step works for you.
Good Luck!
P.S - I was told half an hour on either side of eating for water. I'm struggling with that.

| Sorry to hear what's happened for you, JohnoT, how disappointing :-(
Aa I'm pretty sure I was told not to drink 20 mins before and 30 mins after eating - but I'll be confirming that prior to surgery just to be sure !!!

| Denzel it is interesting to see you say 20 mins either way in terms of eating and drinking. I have read much longer times than that, particularly drinking AFTER eating.
Eating after drinking I have heard and read anything from 15 mins to 45mins but after eating I was told at least 1hour.
Wondering what others have been told and whether they can feel a difference if they drink sooner than usual?

| Sorry to hear JohnoT that it hasn't worked out for you.
I'd be really interested if you could please run me through what sort of foods you are eating...
This is good revision: http://www.bariatriceating.com/2015/03/avoid-the-top-10-post-op-mistakes/
But with drinking before and after meals, remember to not drink 20 mins either side
All the best, :) | |
