| Hi Katrina and welcome!
It's really normal to be a bit scared, after all, it's major surgery we're talking here! But do your research and pepper your surgeon with questions (and on here too!) and then you'll be in a position to decide if this is for you.
My surgeon was Assoc Prof Peter Nottle and I've had a fabulous experience with him. It hasn't always been easy but it is simple - I've followed his directions to the letter. This has been a truly life changing experience for me and I'm thrilled with the results.
Best of luck 😀 | |

| Star bear, you've answered my question from the other post. Let me know how the psych goes. I cancelled mine hoping to get one closer but haven't gone through with it for many reasons. | |

| Hi Guys
Katherine, I too am being sleeved by Mr Draper in August at Pennisula. My op date is the 17th. I can't wait but am dreading the 2 week pre op diet, I love bread. Katrina I can recommend Dr Draper, he has a great chair side manner and the practice is a one stop shop and surprisingly I am looking forward to my psychologist appointment next week, it may explain some things!
Good luck to all of us and I look forward to meeting more of us in the August diary when it comes up.

| Welcom to the forum!
If you have just joined your PHF you will have a lot of time to research and learn about the Sleeve and what to expect, which is a good thing. I was Sleeved 2 years ago and have been very happy with the results. Is it a magic cure, No, but it does make the struggle to control your weight so much more manageable. I has my surgery with Mr Ian Michell, who is an excellent surgeon with a nice bed side manner and very reasonably priced. I have lost 50 kg and luckily have had no complications. At the moment I am learning how to control weight regain and maintain.
Good luck with your journey,
cheers Nini | |

| Welcome to you all,
You certainly will find all you need to know here and when you have a date set make sure to join the monthly Sleevers.
I'm one of the June sleevers and we have such a great group of friends there. You will find all of the posts on the forum very helpful.
I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones in not having much pain after the initial surgery and gas pain and was able to leave hospital 1-1/2 days later. 4 days post op I'm finding it easy to swallow also. You will find everyone is different though, so read through the June posts to see how everyone faired for the latest Sleevers. It will give you an idea of what you may expect.
Good luck to all of you. | |

| I was originally booked to have a band in Traralgon but researched and realised the sleeve is more 'me'. I came up with Dr Draper with melbourne bariatrics as I have some friends in the peninsula and as I'm many hours away would be able to stay there for appointments. He has excellent reviews although is more pricey than some. My initial consult in January was great. I've been waiting nearly a year and now have 5 weeks to go! Good luck with the process. | |

| Hi Katherine, thanks for the reply. I've been reading through and I can tell this place will be a mental life saver for me.
I haven't yet chosen a Doctor/Surgeon yet. I have only just changed my health fund tonight to give me the cover I will need for the Hospital etc. Stupid me didn't even ask if I still have to wait the 12 months as it's considered pre existing.. So some things I am going to have to find out.. I want to look around on here to see other peeps choices for surgeon etc. I feel so nervous... I am excited and scared all at the same time.. but I know this is for me. I was going to go for the gastric bypass.. but over this past month of research.. the sleeve is what ticks all the boxes for me. :-)

| Hello everyone.
My Name is Katrina,, I am living in Melbourne and I am just starting my Gastric sleeve Journey.
I haven't had surgery yet, as I have just made the heart thumping decision to take this journey in the past month.
I have joined the community in hope to draw strength and feed my thoughts with the wealth of information I know I can get from only the people who can really really give it to me, and that's everyone who has actually been through or is going through the process. - thanks for having me. :-)
I am a mum of 4 kids, 22 19 18 and 15 - I've always struggled with my weight... at my heaviest, I was 151 KGS 4 years ago I decided to change that and I lost 34 KGS and that was with Diet and Exercise. I stopped the obsession of Diet and Exercise and decided that focusing on only that in my life.. I was losing sight of everything..
I'm slowly putting that weight back on as my old habits creep back in.... Not eating.... then over eating cause you're starving... then eating.... not eating... lol you know they cycle?
anyway... I want to do this for my future self... I want to be healthy... I want to live longer... be energetic..
sorry for rambling.... I hope to get to know you all soon.
thanks for reading :-)
