| Hi Guys, I am 10 days post op after being sleeved by Alan Thomas - he also did my band removal in May. I can't say enough good things about him - clinically he has an excellent record, he is friendly and not judgemental but does explain all the risks to you, his team are great as well - I see the dietician Nikki and she has been so helpful. A few friends of mine have also been sleeved by Alan and no one has had any issues, some of them are 2 years in now. Out of pocket for me on HBF was $4500 and I was in hospital for 3 nights. | |

| Tossing up between Thomas and Armstrong for a sleeve after banding. Sounds like they are both good. | |

Hey Miss Krys so tell me how did you go??? I have an appointment this monday with Dr Thomas and I am nervous as hell! Hi Bec25 My appt wasn't until 6th March with Dr Thomas, I got both my dates mixed up. I've had my appt with Dr Armstrong and am booked in to have the surgery on 18 Feb!! So I will be sleeved before I was even going to go see Dr Thomas haha - how exciting!! So won't be seeing Dr Thomas anymore. I have heard by a lot of people he is an amazing surgeon and one of the best in Perth. So I believe you are in very good hands. I actually have never heard a bad word about him. I was really nervous too when I went for my initial appointment ( I actually couldn't believe how nervous I was - I can only imagine how I will be on the 18th) but once we started talking etc I become relaxed quite quickly. Good luck I'm sure you will love him and I look forward to hearing how you went. K x

| There's not really any way to find out success rates but to ask the doctor directly. Dr Padovan was very upfront about his success rates but who wouldn't be if you are successful. The scariest part of this op is the risk of a problem so you really need to trust your surgeon and asking these questions is your right. Good luck | |

- hey Bec, great to chat with you yesterday.
Check their success rates, pretty sure Armstrong still has 100% success rate. There have been some cases here in Perth with not good outcomes. My doc (Padovan) has been involved in some revision surgeries and inquests as he is quite renowned also for his expertise. just another name to through in the mix. His dietician is also fab! Was awesome to chat with you.. To meet someone who has actually gone through the process makes a massive difference to my nerves LOL.. I have a good feeling about Dr Thomas we shall see how I go when I go in to see him on the 3rd Feb. Not long to go now only a few weeks I can't wait! Keep in touch x

| Allen Thomas has a very good reputation in Perth, there used to be a few of his patients on this site and everyone spoke very highly of him. I know a few years ago he did have a 100 % rate with no leaks in any of his patients :) I used Jon Armstrong when I had my sleeve 2 and 1/2 years ago he is absolutely brilliant and I would recommend him to anyone, he also has a 100% success rate. Please research your surgeon carefully as not all of them are as experienced as these two. Good luck | |

I feel so nervous about the whole thing.,,, Hey Miss Krys...... I have my first appointment with Dr Thomas on the 3rd of Feb.. I have had to wait for my PHI to kick in. It has come around pretty fast actually. Bubbles1984 would be able to give more insight as she has already been sleeved and as far as I know all has gone well with her.

| Hi- At BMI I had the choice of who I wanted to see Dr Yong or Dr Basson, they both operate at JHC. I opted for Dr Yong, from what I have read he has a good success rate. Saw him last week, very easy going I thought, said he is doing more sleeves these days. The gap is the same for Public or private patients. I thought the whole set up was pretty good, and very professional (not that I had anything to compare against). | |

BMI Joondalup out of pocket is only $2500 for a sleeve, may be worth a thought? Hi dm1432 - who's the surgeon at Joondalup?
