Thanks Jodie for your quick response. I thought is would be around the $5000-$7000 for Dr Thomas and the aneathsist. The gastroscope today they told me would be covered and luckily with my health fund I don't pay and excess unless I stay overnight so should be ok for that one. I am just hoping I will get the answers I want as I really want to have this surgery.

Hey wHitelilly,

Dr t is 3300 out of pocket and anaethetist is anywhere from 600 to 1000 out of pocket. Plus if you have an excess I guess you will have to pay that too.

Your gastroscope would be covered I think if you are on top cover, just the excess to pay for if you have one.

I really like dr t and I have a lot of faith in his opinion and his ability.

Best of luck to you,

Jodie x

well after a long time of more research and soul searching I am going in on the 19th april to have a gastroscopy to see if I am able to have the sleeve done. I had my band removed over 18 mths ago after having it in for over 5.5 years. It had 70% eroded into my stomach. Dr Thomas wasn't certain if i could have the sleeve until I have the gastroscopy. When I had it removed they had found I had a hernia as well so maybe he can fix that at the same time.

I was wondering as I have top level of health insurance with HIF if anyone who has had Dr Thomas is able to give me the out of pocket expenses for his and the Anaethisists fee as I will have to get a loan to pay for the surgery.
Not I just have to wait for the out come of the gastroscopy!!
