| Hey Sue, the Dr thinks, yes I said thinks that it is from the blood thinning injections. He also "thinks" that it's from all pulling and shoving. He did say that my blood count is up and i am going to be without the bruises soon. My wife wont let me out of here until we know why..........
Lets see what happens in the morning :)

| It finally made a bit of sense when you said you had blood thinning TABLETS. I had bruising but I had heparin injections and so had bruises mostly where they were injected. Because you are ingesting them it might have a different effect on where the bruises appear. But it is normal.
You win tho I reakon for the most impressive bruise. Maybe we should start a new competition. LOL

| Hi George... 3 sides??? You're sure going out of your way to be impressive here, ain'cha?? You're prolly right with the heparin too.... Yep. Make sure you're confident in the knowledge that it's OK before you leave. Nothing worse than unnecessary stress!
PS On taking future pix, make sure you still have colour co-ordinated Bond's on!!

| Hi Sue, I did finally get some sleep last night. I turned the laptop off and slept ! Dr says that the blood thinning tablets might be behind it. I am hoping that he tells me that I can go home today Here are the latest pics | |

| Hey George My surgeon saw mine before I left hospital and told me there was nothing to worry about. In fact, it was pointed out to him by a few of the nurses too! He STILL said there was nothing to worry about! He was right. There was nothing to worry about. Like I said, mine kept enlarging for about 10 days. If you like, pm me your email addy and I'll send you the amended photo so you can see what I'm talking about! RG | |

| Hi George,
It will be really interesting to hear what causes it. Mine started near the area where my drain was removed about 3 days post op. It kept growing (till it covered most of my front and left side) for about a week after I was discharged, then ever so slowly faded away. I don't remember any pain with it at all though and, as I had passed my leak test, wasn't too worried. I didn't realise, till you started this thread, that it didn't happen to everyone, LOL.
I hope you get lots of answers from your Doc and look forward to hearing all the why's and wherefore's.
Cheers - Carrie | |

| Good morning everyone, well the bruising has now spread to the other side and near the key holes. I am going to see the Dr about it now because It is getting worse. 5 days after surgery and more bruising seems weird. | |

| Thanks Anna ,Raingold, Janette, DancingOnTheInside and sssss,
I am not too concerned because I feel that the Dr would of been freaking out if there was a problem and he really didnt seemed fussed at all. He did mention that I lost around 150mm of blood during the surgery and something about low blood cells......I am cool, diabetes under control, life is good and will get better and better from here :)
I wish you all the best & raingold, YOU ROCK !!!!

| Hi George... How cool are you? We could have almost been twins!! Seriously! My bruise was the same side but didn't quite go around and under my back and not quite down as far as yours either. It was higher up around the actual stab site. And it grew every day for about 10 days. Mine looked like a huge pacman! rofl. With me, that was also the same stab site that was leaking quite a lot, so I presume that there was blood pooling inside which then had to make it's way to the surface, hence the bruising. Spectacular, isn't it? Wait till it does the discolouration and goes blue and green and purple and black and all that stuff!! rofl. Mine didn't hurt much at all, and despite massaging, faded away all by itself over a period of weeks. Actually, truth be told, if I look real hard, I can still see a very vague outline.... or is it my memory? I dunno... I did get a photo taken of it , but haven't posted it .... yet.... It'll be right. It'll go away. RG | |

| Dr didnt seemed too concerned about it, he said that it would eventually go away. I will speak to him at great lengths about it tomorrow. It isnt hurting me so much today as it did yesterday. The nurse did outline the bruising with a pen to see if it spread , but it didnt. I also have more bruising around the 5 key holes today, that werent all there a couple of days ago. my "gut" "is very swallen . I can understand the bruising around the key holes but not the rest. There are more keyholes on the other side :) Libby : Yes it is the side I lay on, but I am sure that I was flat on my back that night as I woke up in same position with blankets untouched (which is rare for me ) Sorry for the graphic image
