| Hi Helga106
I am being sleeved today and had my band removed and just weighed in and have put on 1 kg since band removal.
120.4 pre band 103.0 band removal 108.1 start opti 104 Sleeve date
I never had much fill in my band so having it removed didn't make to much difference.
good luck with your decision Karen

I had the exact same thing with the band and unfortunately gained on the band after 6 years. I have noticed a huge change since the band removal and I think I will be fine once I have the sleeve in 70 days time. I was wondering how much everyone gained (if any) between band removal and sleeve surgery??The more I read it looks like most people gain weight here. I am trying to be good, but I do find the temptation to eat now I have no problems very high.

| I am a band to sleeve converter after 14 months of hell with the band the only difference about me to everyone else is I had it all done in the one surgery with no complications.
My band surgeon said it could never been done but he only des bands, so I went to see Greenslades and after a couple of visits I booked in and had it all done 12/12/12 and can say I am lighter now then I ever was with the band and I was heavier going into surgery for the sleeve then I was when I went in for the band so that to me speaks for itself.
Good luck with your decision and I hope this has helped.

| hi btgirl
I had my band removed on 5th Nov and I am being sleeved on Monday (14/1). Had my band since March 2009 and didnt have as many problems as some but never really kept it filled as I would get sick and have things stuck. since having my band out I put on 5.1 kgs but most of that was over Christmas and I think most people put on weight that time of year. I really enjoyed good food such as fruit, salad, bread and became addicted to Sushi after band removal as these were all things I couldnt eat with the band. Looking forward to Monday but also very nervous. Have been doing opti for 11 days now ( YUK) lost 2.6 kg in the 1st week so hoping on Monday I will have lost the other 2.5 I put on then I will be back to my banded weight.
good luck with you decision

| I have had all my fill removed until I have my band removed and this has stopped all my reflux problems. I might put on more weight but I am trying to have opti for breakfast and lunch to help keep it all under control. Btgirl | |

| I had horrendous reflux with my band and had the same worries as you.
I had to sleep sitting up and would still wake choking on my own stomach contents several times a night.
I was sleeved last march and have not suffered one ounce of reflux. I tool Nexium for the 3 months between removal and sleeveing to ensure all inflamation of my stomach was gone then I continued taking it for the 3 month period after the op.
I now dont take anything for reflux and am completely symptom free.

| I am really worried about reflux after going from band to sleeve. I already am on reflux meds daily. I also have to sleep inclined. I just want it to stop. I don't think I will have the sleeve if there's a chance that I will have reflux for the rest of my life. Anyone have experience with band to sleeve and reflux? Was it worse after sleeve? Or did it get better? | |

| I just had my band removed only 17 days ago. I was so worried my band removal was going to be a horrible surgery, but to be honest it was very good, I was walking around the hospital that night chatting to the nurses. Now it's out I don't want to look back, the sleeve surgery will be crap, I know but the fear I had has gone now.
I'm trying hard to be good with my food and back exercising. I am using my fitness pal app to calorie count so fingers crossed I can stay at this weight (if not less) while I wait for everything to be ready for sleeve surgery. I can already see the difference in what I can eat, it's such a different feeling to what I have had for the past 6 years.

| Hi all! I am new here. I am banded (since June of 09). After a great weight loss, I have had nothing but trouble for the last year and a half. I am seriously considering revision to sleeve. I have been reading this thread and am almost 100% convinced that it is the right thing for me. I want to hear everyone/anyone's story about their sleeve. Good/bad/ugly.
Also, thank you to those of you who have posted here. It is truly a help to know there are others suffering like me. (Not that I am glad about it). But, no one understands when I tell them what is going on.
Thanks, Rhonda | |

| I am another band to sleeve patient. I had my band removed on the 20th of April 2012 after three years of trouble. I vowed and declared that i was not going to have a sleeve but 7 months after i went and saw my surgeon about a sleeve. With lots of talking on here and lovely ladies ringing me up to talk about the sleeve i decided to have it done. I was sleeved on the 3 December the first few days i thought to myslef what the hell have i done but day 3 i was feeling great and have ever since. The sleeve is so much better then the band. I love my sleeve. I can still eat but in smaller portions and i am never hungry. | |

| Jackie- I am now recovering from the removal of my Band...and despite a few twinges post surgery, I am feeling so much better. I can eat things that I could not, before! I am not talking cream cakes and chocolate- just meat, fish, tomatoes, lettuce! Yay! ORDINARY foods. The surgeon found so many problems with the Band when he went in to remove it, that any doubts I may have had have totally vanished. As for the coincidences, yeah, well, I have chosen a different surgeon than the one who put the Band in 3 years ago- simply because of similar coincidences!!! The new guy will not even discuss the Band... and actually, very few surgeons these days will do so, either. Doesn't that tell us something? I think the Band had it's time... and maybe it's place. If I had not had the Band, maybe I would not now be ready to be Sleeved, who knows? What I DO know is that life, even only 4 days post surgery is so much better without the danged Band! Trishah says it all so much better than I could ever do, and I agree with her 100%. | |

| Hey celebrant 99
I am a patient of the lovely Justin Greenslade.
I am now an ex Bandit, and what a horrid time I had with the band. My life has changed so much now after my band was removed and now I have this wonderful sleeve that has changed my life. I would never recommend the band to anyone.
I absolutely love my sleeve.

| Trishah couldnt have said it better.
I had my band out in June after 7 years. I was sleeved a tad over 2 weeks ago. Even though it is still early days for me the difference is amazing. I had to wait 5 months between ops to allow my tummy to heal and be in the best condition forsurgery.
Good luck with your decision.

| Ba ha ha haaa... I think its a massive co-inky-dink they only do lapbands.
I am an exbandit and I had no complications and in fact have not spoken to one exbandit who has suffered complications (however realistically they do happen occasionally). The only thing we have found is our life is better and we live normally and thinner now.
Doc Greenslade has sleeved many exbandits and has a nil rate of complications. Val007 is one of his patients who was banded and is now sleeved so if you speak to her and go to the meet ups you will feel so much better.
All surgeries run the risk of complications from having a mole removed to heart surgery so it should never be taken lightly....however.... the chances of you having complications with your existing band are 100% higher than they are of having it removed and being resleeved after your stomach is rested the 3 to 6 months.
You will suffer from the band in some way, be it a small malfunction or a big one like erosion etc.
Talk to your doc..talk to his patients and do your research so you are sure you are making the right decision for you. But once you are sure...if you are... do it with eyes wide open and remember you are having anaesthetic and you are having a large portion of your stomach removed and there for will have to abide by the rules of eating after to take care of yourself and your newly formed tummy.
Good luck with the research...I for one have zero regrets!!

| Hi Jackie, I think there's quite a few people on here who've gone from a band to a sleeve and are happy about it. You could search for those threads to have a read if you like. Have fun on your cruise!
PS We have regular Brisbane catch ups if you'd like to come along to one to say hi.

| Just went to my band surgeons to have fill taken out as I am on a cruise and want to eat something and not get it stuck which is happening all hte time now. Told them I was considering a sleeve but didnt tell them I have actually booked with Dr Greenslade for next year. Told me I should not do that as it should only be done in life threatening situations because of the regular complications that result in ICU for patient. I wonder if it is any coincidence that they only lapband.
