| All you need when you ring is your medicare item number.
I have just had plastic surgery, rang the health fund, and just asked was I covered for item no. XXXX, they gave me an answer straight away.
I have been sleeved, had abdominoplasty, lower body lift and vertical thigh lift all covered by Teachers Fed Health.

| HI
I was sleeved on Dec 15th. Paid the excess on admission and the hospital billed HCF direct. I received a statement saying what was charged.
When I recieve the reciepts from surgeon and anaethetist bills I will take them to HCF for any refunds and then medicare.
This is how I understand it works as I haven't used PHI before. Hope it helps.

| Hi
I paid my excess on admission and unfortunately had an exxtended stay of nearly 11 weeks and then another admission of 9 days - my health fund HCF covered all of my hospital costs.
I hope it all goes well for you

| In the past for me I have always checked with hospital that I am covered. Then, depending on the hospital and how you are admitted I have paid the excess either on admission or upon leaving the hospital. They should cover the bills and send you a statement after saying what they have paid out and to whom they have paid it. Good luck with it. | |
