Who has fallen pregnant 3mths after sleeve?

At my initial consultation my surgeon's associate stated that they prefer their patients wait until a year post-op before trying to get pregnant. Reasonable. Then she said that because of the weight loss they have noticed increased fertility, so if you want a third . . . I'd definitely talk with their dad now, because it might happen as an accident (no, not a trick :-} )

Anyhow, as you said it's up to you and your husband to sit down and work out hour plan for what you want to achieve as individuals, a couple and a family.

I think some people mis-understood me. I wasnt planning on "tricking" my husband. I would never do that.

Of course I would discuss it with my husband as I am not the type of person to lie to people, especially my husband.

I was just after advice, thats all.

I would like another one and my husband is more concerned about finances. He said he would love another child but like most men out there, worry about providing for their families. I have considered that also. I actually come from a big family and thats perhaps why I would like a third.

I am very happy to have been blessed with two beautiful healthy children.

My ultimate goal of this op is "to lose weight" of course! Otherwise, why would i put myself through the pain of going through with it.

Thanks once again for your advice and will consider all of the advice before making my decision and of course my husband agreeing to have a third.....

There is a member on here who fell pregnant a few months after surgery. She has now had her baby, but I saw her on the weekend, her little girl is 6 months old and she is struggling to lose anymore weight. She was going greatguns post op.

My personal reasons for not falling pregnant would be
*My husband is dead set against another baby - my heart wants one - my head is with my husband
* I can barley eat enough to sustain myself let alone a feotus
*I had this op to lose weight, not gain it!

My advice to you would be to put off the op until you have made a final decision about your next child. And pelease don't bring another child into the world until you and your DH are on the same page. It can only bring resentment into a marraige, and no child needs to be the product of a 'trick'.

Nutritionally - I honestly think you would struggle to make sure you were getting enough of the right things to sustain yourself AND a baby...

Why not have the surgery after your next child - if you can convince hubby!!???

Why not have the baby before the surgery so then you know your not denying the baby anything that could harm the child.

I think its crazy to risk all the work the surgeons has done.. and you wont have finished healing properly to try.

My husband and I are going to start to try the beginning of Feb 2012. 12 months since being sleeved.

But like everyone else said.. its your decision.. but it also takes two to tango so make sure your hubby wants it before it happens.

You are given a 12mth window to go hard and make this surgery work for you , why would you waste that opportunity???

I am nearing 4mths post sleeve and with the amount I eat I wouldn't risk trying to nourish a baby.

I want a 4th but am waiting until my 12mths are up :)

I agree with the others and what they have said. I would just like to add if you are that set on having another child and do not want to wait the time specified by your surgeon then why not WAIT to have the surgery???? Just seems plain stupid to me to deliberately and knowingly plan to fall pregnant so soon after MAJOR surgery.

the medical reasoning behind waiting is because when you have rapid weight loss you your body release's a chemical and there is n studies as to how this affects an unborn baby. As well as the concern because your tummy does not start working properly until 3-4 months, and so nutrition to sustain a pregnancy could be compromised. Also the recovery to the mother, god, my stomach muscles are only just fully healing and i am 7 months. Why would you want to put your body through a pregnancy when it is not ready? (just my opinion i dont quite understand)

I am also with Caz, about the hubby. " adamant " thats pretty strong..... i seen to many marriages fail because of a child one of them didnt truly desire.... would hate to see a fellow GSS'er go through that....

Of course end of the day, your choice but please do your home work and yeah... ensure you have support....

I just realized you haven't even had the sleeve yet and you're already planning to try and get pregnant @ 3mo postop. Sorry.. sounds a little nutty to me.

The other thing I am curious about is why you want another child against the wishes of your husband. "Adamant" sounds pretty strong!

I really think this is something you need to plan together - not saying you shouldn't do it, but I'd be persuading the hubby first.

You want to disregard your surgeon's instructions so you have an "ideal" gap between your kids' ages? Did you ask your surgeon why the wait? If it's for a medical reason (which it seems to be as all surgeons I've read about agree with the postop delay) then why ignore the advice? I can see dealing with it if it happens, but not setting out to blatantly ignore.

Having said that, I've read of 3-5 ppl who have had successful pregnancies in the first yr post-sleeve.

Im just curious who has fallen pregnant 3mths after pregnancy.

Ive managed to speak with one sleever who fell preggers 3mths post op, however, wanted to get some more insight to others having experienced this.

I really want a 3rd child (even though hubby is adamant no more kids) and was told by my surgeon to wait at least 1yr post op to fall preggers. I really dont want to wait that long coz i wanna have no more than 3yrs gap between my 2nd and 3rd child. My 2nd child is 2yrs old next month and my op is on 4th march 2011, so if i wait til june 2011 to fall preggers then my 3rd will be due in March 2012.

I wanted to know the expereinces of anyone who has fallen preggers so soon post.

Have there been any side effects to baby or mum, etc....

Your info on this would be greatly appreciated.
