I went with Stephen Watson at Murdoch.
I saw his offsider (Dr Max Bowaters) first who went through stuff with me and for whom it all seemed very routine, not much personality; then the dietician (in Scarborough - Diet By D'Zyne - and I paid for that), had the blood tests ordered by Dr Bowaters and then saw Stephen Watson. I had also been to his information session at night.
He was very easy to talk to.
I also had to go in the Saturday to the hospital before the op on the Monday for all the pre-op paraphenalia.
Some things weren't explained to me such as that it is routine to have Clexane s.c. post op, even though I wasn't a risk.
I would have expected to have seen him again before I got wheeled into theatre, but didn't.
Also I expected to see him the day after surgery but didn't.
I was not at all impressed by SJOG Murdoch (I am a nurse, they didn't know that) for many reasons which I have posted before in the February 2015 forum.
Costs:
I have top level Medibank.
Out of pocket for surgery was $3050, and for anaesthetist would have been $1500, but he gave me a discount of $1000.00 because I've had him before for ENT surgery (!) so cost $500.00.
Out of pocket for dietician.
I didn't have to do Optifast as my BMI was borderline.
Didn't have to do sleep study (already on CPAP) nor see Psychologist, so didn't incur those costs.
Summary:
Haven't had any complications.
But care was "very average" (ie disappointing).
I know that Kevin Dolan and Leon Cohen and (can't spell) Hardahsan are also very popular.
Check them out as well.
All the best,
:)
