My operation date is 22nd October

Sounds like you have a lot to weigh up but this forum seems a great place to research while you work out what is going to be best for you.

No i don't mind you asking ,at all .
I know the benefits of the operation ,out way the risk of surgery.
You just hear of things going wrong. age,risk of an operation on someone my size, 146kg.
Sleeves leaking etc . The mind starts to play tricks. 
 My wife isn't in good health, with 2 metal heart valves,emphysema,asthma, Chronic Heart Disease. Just to name a few. And don't like not being with her.I will have to get one of my sons,the youngest .To look after her at his place while I'm in hospital. As he's the closest to Lyle  McEwin. As we live the other side of Adelaide in Hawthorn. My wife doesn't drive , and in her condition I don't like her being left unattended

Welcome to a fellow October sleeve! It's a nerve wracking time isn't it? Equal parts excitement and fear - I don't know where my head is at most of the time. Got a phone call from Lyle McEwin hospital. That my sleeve op date is 22nd october.
 Seeing the surgeons registrar  tomorrow. 
And see the anaesthetise on the 15th.
 All feeling very real now. Before the phone call today, it was always something off in the future. And to be honest i thought it wouldn't happen this year . And to be very honest, have been thinking of cancel ing it all together 
  I will be taking lots of advice and comfort from the great people on here
