| Hay Alex, 2 more sleeps for me.... YAY! anyway, Im in Adelaide and my surgeon is Mr Mark Moore at Calvary Hospital in the city, I am using both my PHI and medicare, PHI is covering the hospital stay and partially the doctors ( I think ) and Medicare is also covering a portion! When I know the exact break down of "who pays what" I will post it on here for you! Amie | |

| Hey Amielou81,
I'm wondering where you are and the name of your surgeon. I need a tummy tuck and the girls need to travel north so I was hoping to cover both in one swoop. I probably could manage both at the costs that you have quoted (providing I could use PHI). I'm interested that you aid Medicare and not PHI. When you are recovered enough, please get back to the site and let us know how you fared.
Good luck for smooth ops and a speedy recovery,
Alex. | |

| Hello Ladies..... Just thought I'd chime in.... after I finished laughing at all the names, I have "rocks in socks" or "NatGeo" boobs as my hubby so nicely calls them!!!!!!! I was a 22c and bras are NOT made in this size at all, so bra extenders from Big W were my friend..... as I downsized so did the ladies I'm now a 12c (super flat and floppy c)... So I am booked in for a Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift (no-fill) in 4 days, and I am able to claim them both on medicare as "reconstructive" my fees are (and this is for both) Surgeon $4400 anetheseist $1500 my private insurance excess $250... That's all!!! I wanted implants but he will not do them at the same time as a lift.... and they ARE NOT claimable on medicare and would have cost $9000 alone! Anyway, will let you all know how I go ..... Here's to our "girls"!!! | |

| Oh, NanJo, I can't believe that doc was so insensitive - and a woman too! b word!!! I go to Breast Screen Australia, and they're much more considerate than that - even though, like you, I had to have the largest plate and they put a note on my file so they'd have one ready for next time. I got a referral from my new GP to go and see a doc about a breast reduction, and will ring to make an appointment next week. Now don't go holding your breath yet, because it may not be affordable, but I'm going to go and see anyway - surely after losing 70+ kg, it'll be considered "necessary"!??? I'm so sick of waking up squishing them under my arms at night! I'll keep you 'posted'. Chris | |

| Nanjo,
I am also in the central wheatbelt and the funniest thing is that I have the opposite problem...lol.
I started out with D cup and now....theres bugger all left, what was before a generous handful is now less than a handful...my husband looks all depressed that the "girls" are disappearing.

| OMG!! Are they ever going to get smaller????? I can remember (many, many moons ago) just wishing that my boobs would start to grow. Grow...once they started they just didn't stop!!! I always felt I was out of proportion, then when I hurt my back my butt caught up with them (that's when I knew it was time to do something serious about it all). Others always say it is the first place they loose weight, nah ah, not this hefer. I have lost cms across my back and have gone from a 24 to 18 but the cup size is still E. I have even had women in the mamogram dept down on their hands and knees sorting through the cupboard looking for a plate big enough because "they know there must be one in here somewhere". One (oops nearly typed the B word!) smaller female (flat chested type) doctor even told me she was going to put a note on my file to say she wasn't going to do my ultrasounds again because " your breasts are too big and they take too much time to do". So I am waiting, waiting (not wishing this time because you need to be careful what you wish for), for the girls to get a bit smaller and less obvious and then people (mainly men) will also notice that when they talk to me the shape of my face has changed also!!

| ROFL - you're right, Deb, that ass was shaking a lot last night! Thanks for the offer, Belly - but I'm afraid it'd be no good, as "the girls" would need a fitting! Looking forward to next week's class now, even though I'm a bit achy today. Chris | |

| Good morning everyone Well, the belly dancing was great! The moves are quite difficult, isolating body parts that haven't been used ever! But it was great fun, and I didn't even realise I was working up a sweat until it was there - that's my kind of exercise! I'll definitely be going back, and so will the 2 daughters who came with me. I slept better last night, so that was a bonus too (the glass of red wine may have helped also!). Chrystale, don't wait until you're smaller - I did a few classes when I was at my biggest, and still had a great time! Bye for now Chris | |

| Thanks, guys. Actually I've done it before, when I was at my biggest. It's quite hard to get the moves, but I'm sure that with time it will become easier. Had to stop last time when I did my back in, so only got in about 3 lessons. It's heaps of fun, though. I'm really looking forward to tonight! Chris | |

| Hey Chris,
Best of luck with the belly dancing. I've got mental images of boobs flying left and right as you shake your booty!! Don't put out an eye.
Have a great time and let us know what it's like. I've always wondered.

| Hi everyone Well, I'm glad we were having this discussion this morning, because it reminded me that I'd best go and find a bra that I could wear to my first belly dancing class tonight, so I don't scare everyone else! I have been fitted with bras over the years, and paid scads of money for them, but all to no avail! The last bra I wore was a 24DD, which was almost comfortable although too small in the cup, and that was recently. At my largest, I reckon I was about a 38Z!!! I had no idea what size I'd be now, but guessed it'd be bigger than the size of the rest of me. Like someone else mentioned, though, I didn't want to get one that was too big around the back and too small in the front. So I grabbed a 16DD, 18DD, 20DD and took them all into the change room. What a hoot (er)!!! None of them were right, but I figured that the 18DD was closest. So when I went to the next shop (remember I'm not getting fitted and paying heaps of money again because I'm still losing weight and don't want to waste it like last time!), I found an 18E which I thought would work well. I also took another 16DD in, to get an idea of what it was like, and because I thought it would be a good one if it fit. Also some more 18DDS. Again, good for a laugh. I ended up buying the 16DD (actually got 2, on sale with half off the second one), but really what I think I need is a 16K!!! But they'll do for now, and should help out in the class tonight. Which is a good thing, because now 2 of our girls are coming with me - how excellent! So thanks for your help, you lovely things, and wish me luck with my belly dancing! Chris | |

| Hi Ricecake- that's a really good analagy your doctor gave you about the buckets of water. Now imagine having to carry them around with you all day. That's what we were all doing prior to surgery. No wonder we were exhausted. | |

| My puppies were a 36B (UK size I think that's a 24B local) before I had kids and gained weight. Now they are 22D and I'm really not looking forward to them being a B cup again as they currently are the one part of my body I really like.
Mine have never been perky, but I was late starting wearing bras. My girls have got their boobs from the other side of the family being 14DD and 12E respectively. They have always had well fitting and comfortable bras - they even prefer to sleep in them. The only time either of them have been unsupported is when bathing and the both have perfectly perky boobs that I envy.
I've love a boob job but I have real concerns about loss of sensitivity and I really don't want to take any chances there... | |

| someone mentioned tummy tuck on medicare. I know you can get it done of it's something like skin hanging down and rubbing causing things like boils and rash/infection. I currently got that problem with the wobbly stuff on my inner thighs. It seems like the pores wont close up from being overstretch all those years and I get black heads now, some which turn into boils. I still got a hell of a lot of weight to lose though so am just putting up with it. It seems like I lost a chuck on weight from one place on my inner thigh. Now it folds over cause it hangs down. I told the surgeon I hadn't felt like I had lost 30 kilos. Anyway, he says fill a bucket with 15 litres of water and pick one up in each arm. So i did one and just about dislocated my shoulder...I wonder if that classifies as reconstructive surgery! |

| Oh, and as some of the other girls mentioned, it is really hard to buy bras for an obese body but about a C cup or less. They automatically think that if you are big, so are your boobs. | |

| Well I haven't chimed in because I don't really have much in that department anyway but I'm going to throw in my 2 cents anyway. Was a 14B in my smaller days. Put on lots of weight but not really sure what size I was then as I went to soft cups- anything I could get into. Didn't care if they were ugly old granny bras as I had no self esteem and nobody else saw them anyway except for the dog. I would only buy bras from Target and KMart as I didn't want to spend money on myself when I felt so crap anyway. Now the girls are small again. Bit of droop- I'm afraid the nipples are a bit south of the centre mark- a lot actually. But I am going to love and accept my smaller body as it is, droopy bits (probably tummy as well as the girls by the time it's over) and all. I am totally behind anyone that gets a bit of help in that department whether it be for pain relief or self esteem issues however. Just don't do it to please somebody else. In the words of Elvis, "Girls, Girls, Girls"....greetings to everybody and their girls. | |

| Hi everyone I love the chatter about "The Girls" as I like to call them.
Belly is right with regards to breast reduction on Medicare. My sister had her's done years ago due to back pain as she's a hairdresser and having to work with your arms up all done was causing all sorts of issues. Substantial weightloss can also be a reason as, provided you don't have to get implants and it was just a lift but a reduction in breast tissue, it would probably be regarded as reconstructive rather than cosmetic. Got this from a plastic surgeon I spoke to a one of my Dr's info sessions.
Belly have you been professionally fitted lately? I'm only saying this because quite often to get the girls in a lot of women opted for a larger back size over going for a larger cup size. Maybe you are really something like a 12F/G or 14F/G rather than the 20DD (its amazing the difference properly fitted bra can make, oh I wish Bravissimo would open up a franchise in Australia, they are a UK chain specialising in larger cup size bras, nothing under a D cup). I'm currently a 14F but at my largest I was a 16J!! Unfortunately mine have been pointing south for a good number of years now (and I've never had kids so its just gravity at work).
Cheers Gail | |

| Isn't it great no to be alone in the saga (saggy) of the dam boob, lol!
Chris, why not shout yourself a propper fitting? Not at Bras and Things, they suck. But at a propper lingre shop? There was one near me till about a year ago and she was a miricle worker. There are a plethora of such places in Melbourne i seem to recall. Even if you only got 1 truely suitable one for when you need it, at least it will be comfortable :)
Now girls, look into it. Because under certian circumstances you can get a breast lift on medicare. I can't actually remember what those circumstances are, cause i unfortunatley don't have them :( but i think it included back or shoulder pain. Its only a chat to your doctor so you might as well ask. And Tummy Tuck can be done as medicare cause its classed as reconstructive surgery, so look into that too .
Jezzy, if i recall correctly (and there is little chance of that pfffft!) you can still breast feed post surgery. But i don't know about them remaining fine! afterwards, i guess that would depend on a million individual things :) |
