| hi,
I have had surgery before and not noticed hair loss but that was close too 10yrs ago.
there alot of great vit supplements out there. I would advise that if you on medication to check with a chemist first to ensure the vits won't counteract your meds. I have a great chemist who I always go to for advice.

| Hair loss occurs after major surgery and as a side effect to some medications ie blood thinners.
I lost my hair with both my sleeve surgery and tummy tuck surgery!! So not once but twice!!
I have a very good diet and have always had more than enough protein.
I kept my hair short, had it cut regularly and it has grown back and thickened up on both occasions.
LOL I expect I will lose it again when I have my second round of plastic surgery in December!!

| I'm losing hair too. I had also heard that it can be related to lack of protein, but my intake is very protein heavy so I'm not sure what else I can do. Fortunately my hair is very thick, so it doesn't look thin, but it's a bit disconcerting when it comes out in handful when I brush it. | |

| i've read on other hair loss threads on here that it can also be from lack of protein rather than anethetic reaction. maybe read some of those and check with your dietician that you're getting enough protein in? | |

| If your hair is long, maybe consider getting a shorter hair do. My dietician recommended cutting my hair as it was really long. She said the longer it is the more protein and nutrients your body takes to keep it healthy.
I have cut mine to just below shoulder length and praying I wont lose my hair lol

| NEVER compare!
You have more to lose, and a 500-1KG loss is VERY respectable. I sometimes lost nothing for three weeks, and then 1.5KG!
Just keep going. Even 200 grams is a loss! You will get there!

| 500gms to 1KG is still 1-2 tubs of margarine a week!
You are going so well! | |

| You have hit the 3+ months sleeved mark...Hair loss due to the anaesthetic we had (shock to the body) causes the hair to fall out about this stage. I lost hair too, but it has mostly grown back. Use a REALLY good shampoo and conditioner (I use John Freida moisturising for brunettes) as well as a good multivitamin every day. Some people swear by Blackmore's Hair and nails in addition to a multi. The good news is, it is temporary, and your hair will begin growing again at about 5-6 months out. It happens to EVERYONE! | |
