| First topic message reminder :
Hey Everyone,
I think i need a little objective review of my average daily food intake so i can get a gauge of how much i am having and if i am over doing it. I am finding it hard to feel sure i am not overdoing it, despite continued weight loss, things have slowed down considerably. He's an example of a typical work day.
Up at 5:10am for my brisk 30 min walk on the treadmill.
Breakfast about 6:30am consists of a small (150ml) cup coffee, (to wash down pills mainly) it's a latte made with lite milk and equal. and 3/4 of a metric cup of cereal. The cerial is a mix of Kellogg's guardian and sanatarium lite n tasty.
About 8:00 - 8:30am at work i have a instant coffee, ( white with 2 equal)450ml size cup that i drink over the next hour. (i don't mind it cold)
About 9:30 i have a little serve of mixed nuts (30ml container, those little salad dressing containers) peanut, cashews mainly.
About 10:30 i have 4 x small vitawheat crackers (or two of the big ones) with a single slice of lite tasty cheese.
From 11 to 12-ish i drink water or sugar free cordial.
About 12:00-12:30 i have a cup sized serving of soup, usually half a tin of those heinz chunky soups.
at 1:15 i go for a 30 walk during my lunch break.
Between 2:45 and 3:00 I have either a yoplait forme (69calories)
Between 5pm and 6pm we have dinner, 3/4 cup of something, it varies from soup to curry (no rice) or stew. Maybe a small lean steak and some veg, or a bit of chicken breast with stirfry veg. We use the portion perfection sleevers plates and bowls as a general guide.
Around 7:30 to 8:00 i'll have a lite milk late in a mug.
I may or may not have a cruskit with a scraping of peanut butter on it around 9pm or even a 1/2 cup cereal, though i have tried to cut these evening snacks out. Alternativly i might have a 2nd evening coffee or a cup of tea.
When i read over this it sounds like a lot to me, but i really need to know how it sounds compared to others and any suggestions anyone might have. I find a get hungry quite between 3 and 4:30 pm and later in the evenings between 8 and 9:00pm.
I am usually in bed between 9 and 9:30pm.
Any feed back and advise would be welcome, hubby has had his sleeve for three months and always seems to have a tad less than me, I am worried i am having too much food, or the wrong types of food that are not keeping me satiated at those difficult hours. Though i work at a desk job i deal with clients a lot and am up and down from my desk all day so am reasonably active for a desk jockey.
Cheers

| Perhaps because we are on the other side of the globe but here and nowadays diuretic drinks like coffee, tea, coke indeed count towards fluid intake. I just checked with a dietician to be 100 per cent sure. What I would recommend is to reduce milk (particularly if it is above 0.5 per cent fat) and to possibly change to decaf coffee. I also checked with the German Nutritional Society - they even say that the more regularly you consume tea/coffee the less the diuretic impact.
I envy you for doing the treadmill that early in the morning. Anyway, I cannot get up that early, but I will follow your example and have a 30 - 45 minutes walk during my lunch break from next week onwards.

- Hi,
From what I read that you are actually eating, it is not that much. You do drink a fai amount of milky, coffee type drinks and these dont count towards fluid intake as they arecaffine based. I am only 3 months out, so I am sure more longer termers can probably give better advice than me. Hope you find your answer. Thanks for your thoughts. I admit i didn't realize that my coffee didn't count as liquid intake. But in thinking about it your quite right. I am not so sure what to drink though. I don't enjoy plain water and can't abide the taste of black tea or coffee. But i like a warm drink in the cooler weather. Hmmmm... i definately need to revise my liquid consumption then. | |
