Any other surgeons in Adelaide?

im seeing a surgeon who does gastric bypasses and lapbands out of flinders as a private patient. hes dr justin bessell and comes highly recomended.

I was seeing dr game at rah for 2 years and am still waiting so have given up on that. if you have the money i would recomend seeing dr bessell as a private patient at the adelaide obesity clinic and having the surgery at flinders (costs about $4000). i only have to wait 3 months.

I was attempting to get my sleeve surgery through the Royal Adelaide Hospital obesity clinic. I spent over a year at the clinic, only having 4 apts in that time...and then being told I could be waiting a further 2 years for surgery, with no guarantees I would even be approved.....so I opted to take out PHI and do it privately.

How long is the wait through Flinders? Have you had any appointments yet?

I dont know any Drs through that clinic...but through the RAH, Dr Philip Game was the surgeon, he does come highly recommended.

I'm from adelaide and have been referred to the flinders obesity clinic. I was just wondering if anyone has been referred there before and also are there any recommendations for surgeons who do public surgeries or any other advice? Thanks all

Iam seeing Dr. D'Onofrio in Ward Street North Adelaide. He was very nice and thorough. He made me feel ver comfortable. He is performing my surgery on the 3rd June.

I have booked in to see Dr Fiona Nancarrow and Dr Michael France on February 2010 to be consulted about having sleeving done... Its all getting very close and the nerves are kicking in !! I have heard good words about Dr M France though - so heres to hoping everything goes well !!!

I am using Mr Philip Game (Director of Bariatric Surgery at the RAH) works at the RAH or privately at Burnside Hospital...his rooms are in StPeters.

I can whole heartily agree with the recommendations of Dr. Michael France and the Ashford hospital.

Dr. France is extremely professional and my surgery went through with no problems or complications.

The Ashford Hospital is simply without equal; the greatest thing about the place are the people.

Post surgery life is proving a little difficult, probably because I am still healing. I've lost 11 kilo's in 18 days and I am extremely tird all of the time. I am sure this will pass.

Yes there is a long wait for Michael but he is an excellent doctor and I can highly recommend him.
They usually book you in for a first consult and then about a month after that you see Michael and then surgery is usually very soon after that so about six months wait I guess.

I waited 4 weeks to see Dr leong in Salisbury. I saw him today 09/10 and I am booked for surgery on 03/11. Dr Leong was nice, explains things clearly, but he likes to know that you understand what you are getting into. I did not have any problems with him

Oh i am so upset. i rang up Dr. France's office today and the receptionist said that i couldnt even get an appointment to see his GP for a first consult until March next year :( :(

I'm seeing Dr Leong. He has rooms in Salisbury and North Adelaide and works out of Central Districts Hospital, North Eastern Community Hospital and I think one of the city hospitals.

Dr Leong did my lapband in 2003 so has been around for a while. I feel very comfortable with him.

My sleeve is booked for the 15th of September and I just can't wait.

Hey there, there is another doctor, Dr D'Onfario. He sleeves too. He is more expensive, has less trainng and probably doesnt do as many sleeves as Michael France... lol.... but then I am biased..lol... seriously though check them both out and ring around I think there maybe someone down at the Flinders Private that does them sometime too. You need to feel comfortable with what ever you decide. it is good to get a few opinions before the all important decision is made. Good luck and let us know what you decide and who you decide on if you decide a sleeve is the way to go...

there is only 2 doctors in adelaide that perform the sleeve, I think the other ones name starts with a D???
