| Hi Mary, I'm glad you came through it in one piece, but I'm sorry to hear your RSD symptoms are still bothering you. I hope the GP can recommend something that will give you some relief. I'm sure Mum would be glad to hear from you, and offer any advice re: the RSD that she can if you feel like giving her a call. Best of luck, and let us know how you get on. Jessie | |

| Hello Everyone....thankyou for your well wishes for when I was having surgery. I had my op last Monday [15th June] and came home from hospital on Friday. Probably should have stayed another night, but as I was having my op as an un-insured patient [ouch***] I think the expenses from that will hurt more than the op did! As far as the op goes, I think all went well. But, I have this other condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome [RSDS] and I'm sure every nerve in my body has gone crazy and is firing off in all directions. I am covered in rash as well, that is probably related to the RSDS as well, but it is driving me scatty, I am scratching like mad, [trying not to, but am even doing it my sleep, the best relief seems to scratch til it bleeds] awwwwww I know, that sounds disgusting, but my body seems to have a mind of its own. Have got an appt with my GP tomorrow, so will see what happens there. I've also sprung another problem, which also could be related to the RSDS, I have no sensation to go to the toilet. I'm not wetting myself, but if I don't remind myself to go to the toilet, then I just wouldn't go. I was told that the RSDS would be stirred up by the surgery, but I hadn't imagined this. Sorry if this has turned into a whinge session, but would be interested if others have had weird symptoms post op???? | |

| Whohoooooooo My surgery has been booked for next Monday, 15th June. Was originally the 22nd, then the 18th and now the 15th. Having had a couple of appt's with my surgeon Dr Harsha Chandraratna and meeting my anaethetist, Dr Sarah Kurian, I've been well & truly informed of the positive results of weight loss. But I have to say that todays appt with the anaethetist really re-confirmed my apprehension about me having any type of surgery. I have a Chronic Pain condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy Syndrrome, which affects the blood, bones, nerves, muscles & tendons. With any type of surgery or medical intervention, there is a possibility of the condition spreading to different body organs or limbs etc. So, as you can imagine, it has taken me a long time to get to this stage, and now I am ready, I say "Bring it on"! My motto is So - please keep me in your thoughts on Monday. I am both excited and apprehensive, and looking forward to the opportunity of the next saga of my life, getting healthier and improving the quality of my life. Bye for now....... Mary | |
