Anyone else had their hunger come back after having their gall bladder out? I feel like there's little restriction in the past 5 days.

I had my gall bladder out 4 years ago, initially developed "post cholecystectomy syndrome" which involved a trip to hospital for 4 days with little done to help. Seems to have resolved itself since then. However, strong coffee is now like a laxative bomb to my system. Causes massive bile dump. As are fatty foods, and ended up intolerant to pork - swelling, agony the works if I eat it.

I was sleeved June 2012 and gall bladder removed Dec 2012 - symptoms was tightness around my chest area, vomiting and pain like no other. I ended up with acute pancreatitis. Do not ignore the pain - I kind of did because my GP and surgeon brushed off the episodes but get yourself to emergency during an attack tell them you think it is your gall bladder and do not leave until all bloods are done, urine checked and scan of the abdominal is complete. Better safe then sorry.

The gall bladder is a storage for bile salts that are produced in the liver. Bile salts help to breakdown and digest fats. When you eat a large amount of fat the gall bladder contracts and squirts out a lot of bile into the duodenum to help break the fat down and deodorize it. If you remove the gall bladder the bile just trickles down the ducts from the liver straight into your duodenum. Mostly it means that you can't digest big, fatty meals. So you can get some digestive upsets/diarrhoea/ from fatty foods. It effects people differently, some people have symptoms, some don't.

I had my gall bladder out last March. For the first few weeks my stomach was a bit touchy with certain foods. Then it all settled down and I really can't tell that I have had it done. Mind you I don't really eat big, fatty meals now so I don't know how I would go.

Are you having trouble with your gall bladder?

People who lose a lot of weight have a high chance of developing gall stones in the gall bladder. These stones cause inflammation and pain. They can become infected and cause a lot of problems.

If you develop gall stones the safest way to deal with it is for the Dr to remove the whole gall bladder. If they just removed the stones they would just grow back.
