| Thanks Wendy.
I did see Andrew on the list but he's too far away. I'm booked to see Margaret Riedy at Ipswich - I'm western suburbs of Brisbane so that works better. She seems very experienced from what be read so fingers crossed I form a rapport with her. I see her soon then 10 days post-op then as needed after that. I guess we'll discuss a schedule during the post-op visit.

| Hey girls,
I am going to be seeing Andrew McNeil from Cleveland. I had a big chat with him on the phone a few weeks ago. He offers home visits, phone consultations or has a clinic that he works at out Logan way one day a week. He does a 5 consultation package with 2 before (1 that is an information session which I will have early Sept and 1 around the Optifast stage) and 3 after. He talked anecdotally about quite a few prior patients who have been very successful and sounded quite experienced, however I cannot yet recommend him for sure as I haven't had any actual consultations. At this stage though I am happy to see him although would rather he didn't come to my messy house, lol. I noticed he is listed on several other bariatric surgeon's websites as well as Dr Greenslade's too so hopefully he will be good. He seemed waffle but nice.
One interesting bit of info he told me was gave me that my GP may consider that I qualify for a Medicare subsidised health management plan if I have ongoing health conditions that are related to obesity. I just Googled this so you can know exactly what it is so follow this link if you think it might help you. --> http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/mbsprimarycare-chronicdiseasemanagement
He said my GP may not realise that the bariatric surgeon can be the third person listed on this health plan as it needs 3 professionals on "the team" but that all 5 of his consultations can then be subsidised by more than what PHI will cover if I do have one.
Just in case you are still looking for someone I thought this might help.
Cheers,

| Sorry neens, I didn't get a notification for this so hadn't seen your reply until now. It doesn't sound like you were being listened to, I would have been disappointed with that kind of appointment.
I'm booked in to see a lady in Ipswich in a couple of weeks so I hope she's good, I have lots of questions for her :-)

| Hi, I've seen Leanne twice (I was sleeved 9 weeks ago) once before my surgery and then 2 weeks after. She was ok but didn't really give me that much info. She gave me the booklet which Dr Greenslade had already given me about food pre and post op. Not sure if it was because I did a lot of research prior to my surgery but I just feel like she couldn't tell me much.
Leanne was concerned about me getting enough nutrients and sent me off to my GP to get blood tests to check my iron, vitamin D, cholesterol etc levels. She recommended a daily multi vitamin. She told me to eat lots of protein eg opti shakes, up n go even after I told her I was having trouble with the milky stuff post op (I had no worries doing opti for 2 weeks prior to surgery)
I'm struggling at the moment and find it hard to eat in general. Even forget to eat when I'm busy. Been having a bit of reflux because I think I'm not eating regularly enough. I'm unsure whether to go back to Leanne or try someone else on Dr Greenslades list!
Hope this helps! | |

| Hi Shelli,
I too have Dr Greenslade's list of dieticians. Have been Googling a couple near me, including Leanne but haven't found anything useful yet. There is a positive about Andrew McNeill in Cleveland - I'm in between the two so might give one a call and see if I feel the "vibe" and if not then ring the other, lol

| Leanne Wagner is one of the dieticians on the list my surgeon provided. She's probably the easiest to get to so I'm wondering if anyone has been to her and has any feedback?
Thanks :) | |
