| My surgeon was Dr Loi from St George private. He is lovely. Just before I was wheeled into surgery he patted my shoulder and said don't worry we'll take care of you, and he did and has done ever since. Saw him yesterday for my six monthly check up and he is still as caring.
He works in with Dr Jorgenson and they have a policy that there is never not a surgeon on duty - so that if anything does happen you are always assured of being looked after.
Good luck with your surgery. | |

- Hi Bridget,
Hi sorry to butt in here but i have an appointment on wednesday next week to see Dr Taylor, and as i don't have insurance and paying for it myself i will be having it done at Concord i have heard he is very good,i hope so.
Congratualtions on your decision to start this journey.
I recommend either Dr. Craig Taylor or Dr. David Martin.
Both are great and very very talented. I can personally recommend Dr. Martin as the best, because i am a theatre nurse and i have done the sleeves and bands along with him for almost an year. He never had one patient coming back with complaints (into the theatre again i mean).
I chose to go to Dr. Craig taylor because he is equally gorgeous and also i did not wanted to use Dr. Martin as my surgeon as i work with him and its an uncomfortable feeling. Dr. Taylor has number of professional papers and seminars in the medical journals about weight loss surgery. He is very caring and very confident and he actually lent a bit of confidence to me in my first appointment!
You can find all about Dr. Craig Taylor here http://www.oclinic.com.au/ he is at Wahroonga Sydney Adventist Hospital or Mater Hospital at North Sydney
and about Dr. Martin here http://www.martinsurgery.com.au/david_martin.html He is at Strathfield Private Hospital and St George private as well i think.
Both surgeons also operate at Concord Hospital for public patients/uninsured patients.
I got my appointment in 3 days from the day i rang his rooms. And i was offered a date within a month's time, but i chose to take a later date.
Goodluck with your journey.
Let us know how you go with finding the surgeon.
Best wishes

| Hi Dominic,
Most of us here think that our Dr's are the best, LOL. This area of surgery seems to attract some wonderful specialists. I had David Martin who is based at Strathfield & Concord. He is fantastic and I feel so very happy for others who are lucky enough to have their ops with him. He is that very special (and in my experience rare) combination of a brilliant surgeon and a really nice, caring human being.
You need to find someone who YOU trust and feel comfortable. Ring around and go to some seminars or meet a couple of Drs.
Cheers - Carrie :-)

| HI we all love our surgeons,
and i really love Dr Craig Taylor.
I had a very difficult surgery as i have multiple health issues, and also other things that meant i was in surgery for a record time... and still in hospital still.
Dr T has great people skills, great surery skills and is not afraid to work with lots and lots of issues....... he came and sat at the end of my bed now for about 30 min between surgeries.

| Hi there,
Dr Taylor has been my surgeon throughout - he put my band in, took it out six months later (the band just didn't work for me at all) and sleeved me 3 months later.
He treated me throughout the whole process with kindness, professionalism and was super caring - with a sense of humour to boot. I really think the world of him and the whole team at the OClinic.
Really, really, really research the band thoroughly - I would never recommend a band to anyone after my own experience but the sleeve has truly been my saviour.
Take care, good luck,
xxHuggyBear | |

| I agree with Carrie, go for some seminars and you will not only get a lot of info from them but also will be able to decide who is right for you.
But i noticed from one of your posts that you live in country, so maybe you want to do it as a short hoilday trip to sydney and book into as many seminars as you can for those days you will be in Syd.
Red Rooter, no i dont work at Concord and never worked with Dr. Taylor!! I only chose Dr. taylor from the reviews on this site, from my GP's high accolades and constant research. In my first appnt itself i knew Dr. Craig is very caring and very confident and he dumped my fears out the window and made me talk all about it. Great guy really, and i feel very happy about my choice.
S xx

| Howdy, I had my initial consultation last week and went to see Dr Talbot and his team. They were great, friendly, informative and most of all very professional. I have had a couple of friends sleeved by him and he comes highly recommended. I feel very confident in getting the operation done with this surgeon. | |
