| My understanding its got to do with your BMI, if its not high enough no doctor can approval,
Why not get letters from the psychologist and endocrinologist to give your doctor to help your case?
Finding a good doctor in Syd with their books open is so hard I know....... sorry our's are closed.

| Thanks for the advice Glenmaree & MisHel i will give them ago.
I understand what your saying MissHel, but i do have health problems -high cholestrol, high diastolic (bottom reading of blood pressure) which at my age the bottom reading is something to worry about i have a very increased risk of having a heart attack (my dad has had 2 heart attacks and he was 51 and 53 when he had them so fairly young still) or stroke. I just dont understand why they would think its nott life threatning. My family also has a history of type 2 diabetes, so i am just waiting to get that. I know my BMI is on the lower end at 40.9 but if i dont get control of my weight soon i dont think i will get to see my kids become adults. I also have anxiety & depression issues which my doc is pretty sure its mostly related to my weight. I am seeing a psychologist to try and work through that.
My life is full of great news lol,
Oh well i am nott going to give up on finding someone to do that letter.
Thanks again ladies for your help, i may not reply much on this forum but i do read alot on here and everyone on here is a great inspiration to me to keep me motivated and to not give up.

| Hi
Does the second letter have to be from a GP? If you are seeing an endocronologist could he/she write your second letter? I would think it would have more weight if from a second treating specialist.

| Call your surgeon and ask them as they may know some good GPs to use. I didn't realise this was an issue - especially with the whole obesity panic going on.
I know it doesn't help you but I'm actually happy that GPs are refusing to agree that just being fat is a dire health issue. Sure it is for some people but others are fat and have no health problems at all. I guess its complicated.
Bottom line is that if your surgeon can't help you I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can recommend a few. Good luck!

| Hi everyone,
Just wanted to know if anyone who lives in Sydney could give me an idea of medical centre i could goto to see a GP that would give me a letter for super. I am having sooo much trouble trying to get my GP to actually say i have a life threatening condition. She is very supportive of my decision to sleeve but the practice manager will not allow her to say what i need her to say. I hae tried getting into other GP'ss but they aren't taking new patientss. I am getting so disheartened as i really wanted approval before i see the endocrinologist at the RPA on the 6 August. Can anyone help?
Thanks
