| Hi Marg
My sleeve was not successful - I developed chronic reflux and had a restrictive diet and the only solution was a bypass. The sleeve surgeon made a mess and I had lots of complications. My current surgeon did the bypass repair nearly 3 weeks ago and I am more well now than I have been for 12 months. I needed to have what was left of my stomach removed which is a bit radical however the Doc was concerned that it would complicate things more if he left it there so for me there is no going back. Despite everything that has happened I don't regret the decision to have weight loss surgery but I do regret not doing my research well enough into the surgeons.
The bet bit is that my weight loss had slowed prior to the bypass but has now taken of again - nearly 6 kgs in 3 weeks so I get a second bite at the cherry!!!!!

| Hi
I have very long gel topped nails and have recently had surgery - my nails did cause low oxygen readings with some machines howvver in this case they used my toes to take a reading. I also have a small nail ring and woke after surgery to find that it had been removed from my nail by the gas guy - he apparently couldn't manage with it in place. I would be guided by what your surgeon requires.
Good luck

| hi i didnt, they like you not to have them but my date was pulled forward and i had 4 days notice so i had freash set nails on as my ooriginal date wasnt for a month after, i told them i wasnt taking them off as they said as long as i took the nail polish off my toes that would be fine:)
i also just had another operation done last week and had nails on and again refused to take them off and the hospital didnt mind again as long as my toe nails had no nail polish :)

| Hi MarMay,
I would take them off as your proper nails are good spot to examine circulation and oxygen in your body. Both docs and nurses like to have patients with absolutely no makeup on.
A bonus is that after your intial recovery you can reward yurself by going to the salon and having metime to get some fresh ones on :)
Good luck MarMay!!!!! I believe its on of the best choices I have every made to get the sleeve

| Hi all I have acrylic nails and was wondering if anyone knows should they be taken off or do I just take the colour off. I know in previous surgeries they needed to see on nail but none of the surgeries were this big. Any help or feedback appreciated. | |
