| If you had private health insurance, how much were you still out of pocket? Would having a health care card make any difference to the costs?
Thanks | |

| Don't think a health care card would make any difference.
$5800 out of pocket for me............ $4600 surgeon $650 assistant surgeon $550 aneathetist
Costs depend on your surgeon and the health fund you belong to. Some funds pay more than others. | |

| Hi Girly,
It is also advisable to ask your sugeon if they participate in Gapcover.
Under the provisions of gapcover a surgeon can 'elect' to charge only the Medicare Scheduled Fee for the surgery meaning no out of pocket costs to yourself. Whilst it can be rarer to happen, there are many doctors that will choose this option based on your circumstances.
it never hurts to ask | |
