Stricture

I'm not sure but I think strictures are reasonably common and respond well to balloon dilatation. I've been told that some people have to have dilatations done at regular intervals but as you already know, it's not an uncomfortable procedure.

Perhaps you can ask if the stricture you have is likely to recur and if you need to have regular GASTROSCOPIES to check.

Hi all-my name is Liz.  I had the mini gastric bypass loop on January 5th. Had a anastomosis leak on 6th January and went back into surgery.  4 weeks in I suffered from severe reflux.  I had reflux before surgery but it was well managed for many years.  On week 8 post op I started having pains that can only be described as being strangled from the inside under my left rib cage.  I went to hospital and was diagnosed with a anastomosis stricture. I ended up having a balloon done via an endoscopy and my oesophagus was expanded by 2mm.  I got out of hospital 2 days ago.  I am still experiencing mild pain but not like it was.  I am very guarded in my movements.  I am wondering if anyone else has had this and what should I be thinking about asking my Doctor.  I have my specialist appointment on Monday and need to have answers but unsure what the questions should be.  For example will this be an ongoing problem?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  PS:  I am 53 this year.  Start weight 128kg. Current weight 104kg.  Regards Liz
