| Hi Neens,
Nope no catheter :). He's an excellent surgeon, you are in good hands.
Think I've lost just over 12 kg so far - slow & steady wins the race :)
Best of luck for a speedy recovery!

| Hi Kiah,
Just wondering how you're going post op? I'm having surgery with Dr Greenslade on Tuesday. Please tell me he didn't put a catheter in! How much weight have you lost?
Thanks Neens | |

| Sorry it has been so long Kiah.
2 1/2 weeks post op and I am doing really well. Haven't had any vomits, or other issues. I find that sometimes i am really really hungry and feel like i am eating constantly. my sister in law made sense though when she said, just remember even on those days you are still eating less then your pecky eater would eat in a single meal. That puts some perspective to the whole thing.
I have still managed to lose over 10kgs. So I can't complain.
How are you travelling?

| Oh Sway, you are not being precious at all - you've had such a rocky road! So so glad things are settling down for your tum now.
Yup, optiblah, sustagen - the mere smell makes me feel nauseous & I want to gag! I think my dietician is going to kick my butt re this! But I just can't face them anymore
Yesterday I thinned some condensed soup & mixed in beneprotein. This morning I blitzed blueberries, yoghurt, apple juice & beneprotein & that went down SO much better than a protein shake. Also taking Natures Way mini vitamin. Hopefully this is better than nothing :)

| Kiah, it's very interesting that the Sustagen doesn't cut it post op either. So pleased it's not just me. I don't feel so precious now....
Just in the last week or so I've started reintroducing milk based products and I seem to be able to tolerate them now. Seems as if the lactose intolerance was a temporary post op problem (I hope). My tastes have changed as well, I never could eat yoghurt...it made me gag every time. I tried again last week and discovered I quite like it. Since I've been taking my tablets with yoghurt instead of tea I found that I'm not vomiting anywhere near as much as I was.
Finally I'm starting to work out how my new GI tract works. It only took 14 weeks. |

| You too!
I'm a bit weirded out by the whole thing so far - seem to be able to drink rediculous amounts without any hassles. Dietician told me to limit rate to 100ml/hr for 1 st week - well I could drink 100 ml in about 10 min!
And I'm hungry! Have about 200 ml & then 2 hrs later I'm hungry again. Weird or what? Seeing dietician on Thursday so hopefully we can work out what is going on.
I guess the big problem is I can no longer stomach shakes or sustagen - I was fine pre-op when I could hold my nose & scull them down, but sipping them turns my tum now.
How are you holding up? | |

| Hope your surgery went well and your resting up. I found the peppermint tea was great, you will have to ask for it in hospital, plus it refreshed my mouth and good for gas! | |

| Hi! I'm home and on purée! Unbelievable but true. I certainly have been lucky. Dr loi found a small hernia and repaired that also. Able to get loads of fluids in which was great and allowed an early release. Now trying to get my head around the rest of my life lol. I have dropped 3kgs give or take since tuesday. Would love to be under 100kgs before I head back to work. How are you finding the aftermath? | |

| Good luck tomorrow kiah. What time are you going in? I have to be at the hospital at 12:30pm. Was hoping to get to the sleeved side first thing, however I guess it's a blessing in disguise. I get to see my boys off to school in the morning, make sure the house is clean and organised for my 3 men, plus get that little piece of quietness before heading off to the other side. I'm feeling positive, how about you? | |

| Hey AnnaB - Justin has a great rep, we'll be in good hands :) Incidentally Justin gave me a list of recommended dieticians to see, I picked Andrew McNeil & have been very happy with him - he has many years experience working with bariatric patients.
Thanks Ready4change - glad you are so excited :) I think my emotions are more skewed towards the 'terrified' end of the spectrum lol. But I know this is the right thing for me to do, & very soon we'll be on the other side of surgery. Now that I am looking forward to!
