I am getting sleeved on the 30th of April 2012, I am on opitfast now!!!! yippee not long now.Is there anyone else that is getting sleeved in this area or this hospital???

I have a friend who is being sleeved there beginning of June and know she would be interested to know too.

She is having the greek sounding doctor I cant remembr his name!

I am having my sleeve done at Lake Macquarie by Dr Costa, I would be interested in your experiences, so please keep us updated. I am at the early steps on the rd., just having all the tests done

After reading all the posts on this site we are doing the right thing but it is a bit scary.

Your very right that it is scary, its also exhilarating at times and frustrating at times too......
but it can be the start of aanother life too.

I to am having Dr Costa, he is so nice. I am on day 3 of opitfast and doing quite well. I am doing 3 weeks tho just to get some more weight off.It is a bit scary BUT I am thinking how much better off i am going to be when i can run and swim with my family again!!!! sooooo can not wait now for my op!! Bring on the 30.4.12. Keep in touch people. we are going to get a get together(for coffee) soon a Charlestown square soon so keep an eye open.

Hi Ive decided to do op after much complications with my health, my GP has adviced me to do this. I have all faith on my GP to find the best surgeon to operate and he has mentioned this hospital not sure of Dr yet is Dr Costa the only surgeon who does this at this hosp? How much is this op? Ill be posting more info as i go....good luck to you..and good on you for accepting this change...for the better health!

Dr Tim Wright from Newcastle Obesity Surgery at Charlestown does sleeves and bypass and bands at Lake Macquarie as well. He is doing my bypass there on 20th November. He has been my band surgeon for 5 years now. I have heard no bad things about either surgeon, and the hospital is unreal!.

I am booked in on Tuesday 6th November (Melbourne Cup) at Lake Macquarie Hospital with Dr Tim Wright. I had my pre-op appt last week their & all went well. The nurse was very informative & said there is a new wing which is purely for Bariatric patients. They have thicker more comfortable bed matteress & they are also wider to. She said that they also have a recliner / loungechair in the rooms as some patients prefer to sleep in the chair as they can be more comfortable when trying to sleep after the first couple of days after surgery. I will update after my op too :)

Ooooo Mel that sounds like the hospital is going to be lovely!!. The worst part is the bed, so if they are better then that's fantastic!!...and a nice recliner as well!. Woohoo! Cant wait!...

I am booked into LMPH as well, but am having my op the day ofter Mel Newcastle, on the 7th Nov ( only 9 days and counting ).
My surgeon is Costa Karihaloo and he is located across the road from LMPH in the specialists centre. He is lovely and very easy to talk to.

Can't wait for the op....
