| Getting back to solid food takes 5-6 weeks..
You'll want 2 weeks off work min depending in what you do for work.
And to be back doing everything and anything such as gym etc can take 3-4 months for you to be fully healed inside.

| Hey I am new to this site, having been a member for not quite five minutes. I am 39, and have just had my first appointment with my prospective surgeon. After discussing the bariatric options, we decided that a sleeve gastrectomy was the best option for me. A lap-band is too maintenance intensive, and a full gastric bypass is likely risky given other medical issues.
I have always been overweight in adulthood, and it has got to the point where I can no longer work. My BMI is 'only' 38 or so, but I have severe diabetes and some other issues which add problems. I am currently 119kg (about 260 in old money) or so, and have been as high as 128.
Would anyone be so good as to tell me how long the recovery period normally is after sleeving? Like beef, I would love to be swimming sans T-shirt next summer!

| Yeah J I most certainly have been called that a lot, usually by my family. I always tell them at least I'm not boring, unpredictable, a little irresponsible but not boring. After all blondes DO have more fun, I can vouch for that. lol | |

| Hi Beef and welcome to the forum. I know I'm not a guy but just popped in to check on you blokes. lol. Congratulations on having your sleeve surgery and glad to hear you are recovering well. I agree with J (again) men do seem to lose weight much easier than women whether it's from sleeve surgery or other diets. Maybe think about starting a diary in The Diary section to keep track of your journey as life changes so quickly when the weight starts to come off. That's what I found anyways. Good luck with everything.

Us guys seem to have a lot easier run with the sleeve than the ladies do weight loss wise..
Not that I'm complaining :)
