| Tried washing it down, NEVER WORKS!
The good thing about the vomiting (I can't believe I just used that in a sentence!) is it is EXACTLY as GSG described.
I will add an extra description to the 'Vomit sound and vision extravaganza' though!and that is that it tastes EXACTLY the same going up, as going in!
There is no acid bile taste, and it actually makes you feel better.

| I'm not sure what it's like to vomit post-banding and I've only done it twice now, but it's not like a normal vomit for me. Imagine trying to stuff something into the top of a volcano and when you've put too much in (almost like you've plugged it) and there's too much pressure created and it spits up. Whatever is on top comes out, almost exactly like it would have looked going down. It's not mixed with stomach acid or bile or anything. But the volcano itself doesn't erupt. It just gets rid of the bit that couldn't fit.
That's been my experience anyway. Fingers crossed throwing up will be a thing of your past and that you quickly learn your I'm full signals. They're different for all of us.

| Yup, I learnt quickly too and didn't vomit at all in the early days. The first time I did was actually because I ate dense chicken breast that my tummy obviously just couldn't digest at about 3 months out. This has put me off chicken and now I eat red meat much more. | |

| According to my doc when I asked this very question when I was struggling with water intake, we should try to avoid vomiting in the first three weeks if at all possible, and you should be as right as anyone else after twelve weeks.
I know from personal experience that feeling like a huge barf is not always possible, although I have not yet done it (too scared, plus I hate barfing). There are good anti-reflux and anti-nausea meds out there, but nothing beats taking it slowly and one mouthful at a time. I walked away from my soup tonight after only a few mouthfuls. I'm learning! :)

| Nope, washing down is not an option, but for me this was good because it taught me that I MUST NOT EVER EVER overeat (as I am a vomit-phobic) and this worked well in the early days. I can eat more than I feel I should do now without any ill effects, which is good in some ways because that overfull feeling is just the pits! I love my sleeve :) | |

| That's right - if you overeat, nothing but vomiting will relieve the pain. Believe me, I tried washing it down, and it just doesn't work - nowhere for it to go. I was a very slow learner, eating too fast, not chewing enough, overeating (even 1/2 teaspoon extra can be way too much), and vomited lots. And you just KNOW I tried everything ... | |

| No you can't do that. If you do it will just make it worse. Once you have overeaten once you are very careful not to do it again. | |

| i don't think so, because with the band you have the majority of your stomach for it to go into, if you overeat with the sleeve i would imagine that you either vomit, or feel uncomfortable until it starts being digested and moves out of the stomach. if that makes sense? | |

| so guys im having my sleeve done next tuesday and im wondering about vomiting. so if you over eat you get the feeling of needing to vomit right?, so if you do need to vomit can you wash it though to try and stop the vomit? does that make sense?. with my band if i got something stuck i could have some fizzy drink and open my mouth and BAM out it would come or it would wash though and id be ok. does the same thing happen with the sleeve?. i looked into everything bout the sleeve when i first decided to get it done back last year but now its upon me i cant really remember anything bek | |
