| Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if I pay the surgeon his fee before I have surgery will i get the medicare rebate or do I need to wait until after surgery? Just asking as I have money issues atm. Thanks.  | |

| From my experience in WA, the payment to the Surgeon is treated as a 'deposit'; then after the surgery it is then a payment; and subsequently a Tax Invoice issued to apply for a refund to Medicare. (It couldn't be treated as a payment prior to the op, as it may/may not be cancelled; same theroy to all deposits on all goods and services) | |

| Doubt if they would pay before, incase the surgery is cancelled for some reason or other. | |

| Pretty sure you have to wait till the procedure is over. But why not check with Medicare? | |

| You definitely have to wait until after your surgery. Medicare will not pay prior to having any procedure or test, neither will a private fund. | |
