| Why, why, why do I do this to myself? Today I made a slow cooked, soft, meat fall off the bone meal for my husband. So, I tried a small piece of the meat and chewed it really well and swallowed. Big mistake, just like every other time I've tried. I always tell myself that this time it might be ok. Epic fail. So, I have spent the last five hours knowing and feeling it stuck. Then, I have just been violently ill bringing it all back up again. Thank god I am having the band removed this coming Monday. The band is pure EVIL. That's it, I'm over it, I'm done, get it outta me.......... | |

| Hi Smerky,
I had to have emergency surgery to have mine removed after it totally blocked off, and had been unable to even get fluids down. After months of regurgitating everything I ate with the band, the sandwich they survived me the morning after surgery was absolute heaven. It was so nice to eat normal food and not have that horrible stuck feeling!
Good luck with the removal and be careful with what you eat afterwards because it is very easy to put the weight back on. I went from heaviest weight of 136kgs pre-band, down to 112kg at band removal then back up to 132kg at my heaviest before starting optifast before my sleeve surgery. I am 2 days off my first month of having the sleeve and hope to lose one more kg to make it 117kg (10kg loss post-surgery!!).

| Hi Smerky,
When I had my band out (after only 6 months - I hated it!) I felt terribly full whenever I would eat for the first week. I think it is because my stomach was still 'scrunched up' from having the band. I didn't feel sick or vomit at all. Just very full quite fast.
Of course, this did not last and I gained 5kg in the 3 months between my lapband removal and my sleeve surgery. I was trying so hard not to gain weight but it was a losing battle.
That's why I am so grateful for my sleeve - it has saved my life.

| Hi Smerky
I had my band off just over two weeks ago and it was first thing in the morning and they brought me lunch in and it had sandwichs and soup and dessert. I think the only reason I could not eat it was because I take forever to wake up properly. So by dinner time you should be fine :)
Be carefull with your intake though as I gained 1 kilo in the two weeks since the op, I went abit crazy on things like burgers and things like that as I had not been able to eat them for 12 years, damn band!
Any way good luck

| Hi, Smerky here again. Well, it's now only a week til my evil band is removed. Yay. What I'd like to know is, will I have to be on any special diet after the removal, or will I be able to eat normal food straight away. (can't wait to be eat and not throw up). I am sooooo craving a salad and a sandwich. Hoping everything will be straight forward inside, and I can book my sleeve surgery for November. Thanks for any help you can offer. | |
