| so apart from someone mentioning that eostrogen being stored in fat is the reason for change in periods, does anyone have any other reasons? I have had my period for a week (really light) then they stopped for a couple of days and then they started again and it has been 7 days! Its driving me crazy! I have an IUD and I was hardly getting a period and then they would only last 1 day. My husband thinks Im lying to get out of sex which I think is hilarious but Im not! has this happened to anyone else???
I should also add that I get symptoms alot more now. Last week I ate carbs till the cows came home, was cranky, couldnt sleep or concentrate at work, it was bloody terrible.

| My hair is worse after I colour it, but I am still lucky, I had bucket loads to share! At least it does not fall out in in patches, but rather sheds uniformly, so nobody else ( except shower uses after me) know any different. Even if I am not growing any new hair as the other blogger says, I am still losing brush fulls at times. Don't care I look wonderful, a small inconvenience. I use the sub lingual vit b and I think it makes no difference either. have a wonderful Sunday... cheers psychomum | |

| My hair started falling out around 2-3 month mark in bucketloads. The shower drain was constantly clogged and after I used the drier hair was everywhere, the floor, the walls, everywhere except on my head! It's now 10 months since my sleeve and I have noticed a marked decrease in the last month. I was obsessive about increased protein intake to the point of WPI powders to add to protein drinks several times daily, multivitamins, vitamin b complex, vitamins for hair care and growth - if they sold it, I bought it. Perhaps it works for others but it was a waste of money for me. I suspect it is one of those luck things though. It will either happen and there's nothing you can do about it, or it won't for no explainable reason. A bit like stretch marks or cellulite. | |

| Another reason for hairloss at the 3 month mark is that when you have a general aneasthetic the hair that was due to start growing doesn't and so three months down the line you lose your normal amount of hair but because the hair that should have grown to replace it didn't grow it looks like you are losing lots of hair. That's also why by month 6 people feel they are no longer losing their hair...that's because the hairs from months 2 and 3 are now grown...just a tidbit, and a reminder that we get it all back! | |

| Velocette, you made me laugh. I too love sharing, with the floor the drain the hair brush and especially when I'm cooking! I had very thick hair, so I just consider I'm shedding for my spring coat..lol | |

| Post-op I lost about two thirds of my hair.
I have a mild autism spectrum disorder, so yes i did measure and record my hair loss! lol
My hair is very curly and normally there's enough there for a whole family, so I'm very lucky. But I was getting a bit worried there for a while.
It's now a year since my op and I have heaps of regrowth. Having 1/3 of your hair one length and 2/3 half that makes for some awful bad hair days. I console myself that it's not for much longer.
It looks like a burst mattress no matter what I try to do with it but ... it's still worth it!

| LOL.... looking for the skinny suit..... don't worry you won't lose that much hair, it's just like there's just way to much on the brush or when you wash it, to let it go down the plug..... unless you're married to a plumber!! | |

| Yep 3rd month hair started falling out in the shower. Not so much as I think I will go bald, but about 1/4 of the thickness it used to be.
On the other hand, thought I was too old for periods after nearly 2 yrs, but I have now had 2 since the sleeve, something about estrogen stored in the fat, and rapid weight loss releases it!! But just to be on the safe side having a biopsy next week. I'm sure the hair will be fine eventually.....but I'm not sure about constipation, it's helped to cause a total break down in the area!! Oh well whats another operation???????

| To reduce the risk of hair loss, keep your protein levels up from Day 1, as well as taking a good multi-vitamin with minerals. | |

| Yup I definitely feel my periods more. I actually have to take ibuprofen now, they can hurt that much.
And with the hair loss - YES. It's called Telogen Effluvium and combined with rapid weight loss, it's very likely you will lose mass amounts of hair. I did, and had to cut my middle of my back tresses to shoulder length as it was just getting so thin at the ends it looked straggly. Looks good now, and I am growing it back long.

| I have lost lots of hair. My cycle has also changed. I have had to change the pill i am on as i had breake through bleeding that i have never had before. I had surgery in march and my hair started falling out about 2 1/2 months later and still is. I have started taking Hair nutrition tablets to see if they help. I think my hair is looking healthier now than what it was before i strted taking them. | |

| Oh yes, it is HIGHLY likely you will lose hair, I'm afraid. There are plenty of threads on here about that one subject! It starts around the 3-month mark generally, and tapers off around 6 months. Do a search for the other threads and you will see us all whinging and carrying on about our lovely locks.
Do you have PCOS? I know that the surgery can start to regulate otherwise irregular cycles, which could partly explain the change? Hope you get on top of it.

| Hi all..
girls have it so great don't we!! today i started my first period since the surgery.. normally i barely notice it, no pain and muss, no fuss. well i am exhausted!! and i have crampy period pains which i don't normally have, i don't know... wondering if it's irritating my actual stomach or pushing on it.. or if my body is just getting even with me for putting it through something so huge lol did anyone notice a difference in their menstral symptoms post op?
and talking about putting your body through a lot.. my dietician mentioned that your body can have a delayed shock reaction to the op.. and you will notice your hair falling out...... Nooooooooo !!! did anyone have that issue? .. how much falls out? i don't want to be bald LOL!!
