Alan Thomas - Band to Sleeve

Hi Emma,

On my first appointment with Alan we just discussed why I want the band out and how he would do the surgery to ensure if I wanted the sleeve in 3 months time my stomach would be in the best possible shape. I wasnt sure at that stage...just felt so over this WLS thing!

I didnt have to have any tests done prior. I had a hospital admissions appointment done over the phone and just turned up on the morning of my surgery.

It was really easy compared to the band going in and you can eat pretty well normally post op, which is such a relief after so long having issues with eating.

Actually I felt remarkable well and I dont know if it was my head, but I felt better having that foreign object out of me...it never felt right from day 1!!

Dont stress, you're young...you will fly through it. I just stayed in overnight and went home the next morning after I saw Dr Thomas.

I have an appointment with Alan Thomas on the 29th August to discuss getting my band removed and getting a sleeve in 3 or so months later (I definately want it removed! I've done 3 months of research! and feel I would be better suited for a sleeve (I've also spoken to Thomas over email about some of my circumstances)).



I'm having to fly down (from Port Hedland) and want to know what happens at this first appointment? and do I need to have appointments/tests before getting my band removed? You see I'm kind of gathering I may need to fly down again before having this band removed for some other tests? I'm not really sure what is involved before getting the band removed... Can anyone enlighten me??
