| I had a band for nearly a year and then had it removed for my sleeve op (January this year). I found that I was in more pain with the sleeve. I was in only overnight with the band as I was in for 4 nights with the sleeve due to pain. My sister has a band and she had lots of pain with that! It's really an individual thing. However you cannot lift anything over 8kg for 2 weeks after the sleeve - so no lifting of children. Just something to keep in mind. It's best to get support from another adult following the sleeve, so maybe your hubby could take a week off work or something? All the best. | |

| Hmmm,
I found the pain from the sleeve far greater to the band. Also, my recovery took a lot longer. I did have a lot of scarring though and was on the table for over 3 hours. He couldn't staple me so had to stitch.
That being said? I'd do it again tomorrow.
Good Luck. | |

| I also had my band removed in Sept 09 and then got the sleeve in july 10. I found that the band and band removal were far more painful than the sleeve op. I was back at work after 4 days from being released, and no pain after 10 days. With the Band, I was still feeling pain after 3 weeks. Do not think of the Op, think of the result. I have been really slack since being sleeved, yet I have managed to lose 35kg. | |

| Hi Cath80, I had my band removed last June, then waited until October then had the sleeve surgery. I know everyone has different pain threshold's, but I was in less pain after the sleeve. I don't know if it's because they used the same cuts from before, but I had no problems. Best of luck for your surgery. Natty14 | |

| G'day fellow legends :) Im just wondering if some Band to Sleeve people can give me an insight into the pain/recoverey of the Sleeving Op, compared to Lapband Op? I am such an anxious person when it comes to pain LOL!! I guess everyone is, but some worse than others. Well, im a freakin' wuss!! I think the main reason is, i am reasonably new to Perth and only have my inlaws here. They dont know about my sleeve op, as i know they would judge me a strongly oppose it! I have a 15 month old daughter, so i dont want to take toooo long to recover as i dont have anyone to help me out (when hubby is back at work). My husband is an angel and will take some time off work if need be, but would rather not put that pressure on him. I know everyone's experience is different, but would love to hear your story :) Thanks guys n gals :)) Cheers, Cath | |
