| Oh WOW This is not a thread i was expecting to see here and so happy to see it. I have had this annoying skin condition for about 20 years now.. not bad considering im only 28. It makes me hate summer and everything related to it :( Fingers crossed that a large weight loss will help with it all Kel | |

| Hi cookies :)
It's insane that we have to explain the condition to doctors, isn't it? Don't take this the wrong way, but I am so glad someone else knows what I've gone through!
I'm 3 weeks post op, and since starting this adventure in April I've lost 20 kilos (actually 19.9 :P ) I've had a few 'little' flare ups but nothing, and I mean NOTHING like what I used to get. It's all looking positive from my perspective.

| Wow, I was incredibly surprised to see that others here had HS. I've had to explain what it is to just about every doctor that I've ever seen, even my endocrinologist.
I was told by my endo that I needed to lose weight. Essentially, she said that my skin does not cope well with the sebum produced by androgens. The more weight I have, the more of me there is to produce androgens. If I lose weight, the symptoms of HS should lessen. I'm really, really excited to have the possibility of getting rid of it. | |

| I have lost 10 kilos pre op, been drinking heaps more water than I used to, cut out caffeine, exercising regularly and lo and behold the only time I seem to get my flare ups is when I am ovulating and during menstruation. If this is a sign of things to come I will be a very happy camper!! | |

| From what I understand the weight loss itself can help in 2 ways less of the hormones running around and a healthier enviroment as in less sweat etc. I am NO exbert nor have I researched this in depth I only suffer a mild form of it but it has close to gone now with the weight loss. I had mad more asumptions on the why it had improved for me. I am sure tho that you should be able to find information out there on the internet. applesauce | |

| HS Link
I've suffered from this for 22 years now. Just wondering if anyone out there does as well? Did it get better after some weight loss? During my thin moments, I don't remember there being as many flare ups and if there were they weren't as bad as I get them now.
Thanks in advance, | |
